I saw today that The Help is being made into a movie for release this year. If you haven't read this yet, do yourself a favor and do it now. I loved the characters so much, I'm still sad that they are "gone". (Since I put the book down a year ago)

Has anyone else read this? Are you excited for the movie? I am. Even though movies about books always let me down (like Time Travelers Wife)
Re: NBR - The Help (Movie)
Ooh, that's awesome! I loved the book and couldn't put it down! Do you know when it's coming out?
ETA: Never mind, I see that it's going to be out in August!

I read it awhile ago, it was a great book. IMO, the movie is never as good as the book. Books can do things movies can't. Movies only have 2 hours, and they can't get into what people are thinking and feeling the way books can.
I agree on the Time Traveler's Wife, the movie sucked, but even good adaptations never move me the way a good book does. Still excited for this, and Water for Elephants!
Funny you mention Water for Elephants. MH actually wants to see this movie but since I know it's a book, I MUST read it first. I guess I should get on that.
I'm just surprised MH wants to see it.
Huh, does he have a thing for Reese? DH will not see it with me, so I have to wait and see it with my mom and Grandma who also read the book. I loved the book, it was amazing!
Water for Elephants is excellent!!! I read it twice within 6 months. I did the same with The Help. I agree about books not being as good as the movies. Who is playing Skeeter???

It really was a massacre. I watched because it was on HBO but thought I'd never do it. It just didn't have the same impact.
I do think this could be a good movie (The Help) but Hollywood seems to always mess things up. A good book is a good book for a reason, why change a good thing?
