The subject says it all- do you give Lo what you are having or do you make them something separate?
I find I'm cooking dinner around the time L wants dinner so usually I give some of what is made but his main dish is usually different from what dh and I eat...weird?normal?
Re: Do you make a separate dinner for LO?
Usually every other night I make one dish and sometimes alter it slightly for the kids...like they will eat baked ziti but if I make tacos or fajitas - then I make the kids quesadillas because it's easier for them to eat.
The other nights I'll makes them things like banana pancakes or frozen raviolis and DH and I will have something adultish - like steak or fish.
When R was learning to eat foods, I didn't give him things like tacos, burgers, or stir fry...but now he eats 90% of what we (er, I....dh is never home for dinner) eat.
I will often toss something on his plate I know he will like, but he also gets what we are having. Last night was stuffed pork chops, roasted sweet potatoes and homemade mac n cheese....he also got an applesauce cup.
He loves spicy stuff too, which is awesome. Our ped said to throw him anything and everything now and he will be a better eater later. I don't make him anything if he doesn't eat what we are having, but I might give him a fruit/veggie pouch if he didn't eat any (which is rare).
Normal, but everyone has their own opinion. I make diff dinners for each kid and then a separate dinner for the adults. Sometimes my 4 year old eats what we do, but seriously - goat cheese stuffed mushrooms? no. Scalloped potatoes with gruyere? Prob not. Long list of stuff. And she has a tough time with stuff like string beans because they are stringy, and that's fine. As long as she has her own veggies or fruits with each meal, I'm happy. Yet, she has a good variety of foods and even likes spicy stuff, so she gets a big variety, but generally does not eat our exact meals.
I got into it with someone and DH recently because DD wanted edamame for dinner, but the two guys told me no, she's eating what we're having. And I think it was mushrooms and something else.. I mean if the girl wants edamame, she can have it. DH is always saying not to cook a separate meal, but he's not the ones responsible for what the kids eat or even really knows their diet, so as long as I'm fine doing it, I don't know why it shouldn't be an issue..

Both. Brianna mostly eats and likes what we eat. I think it depends on what you like to eat and what he likes to eat. It also depends on how many teeth he has, and there is the whole mess factor.
Tyler just cannot eat what we eat, but that is a whole separate issue.
Nope. My 2 year old eats what we eat. If he doesn't care for it, there is always enough fruits or veggies as side dishes, so he gets plenty of food. We are lucky that he is not a picky eater. The only thing he will absolutely not eat is eggs. I don't push it.
