XP from May 2011: Advice on Play Yards

DH and I are looking to buy a play yard with the bassinet and changing table attached.  We like the Chicco Lullaby, Graco Pack n Play, and the Eddie Bauer Play Yard.  CR rates the Chico and the Graco, but doesn't say anything about the Eddie Bauer.  They all look similar to DH and I (we did our best to check out the models at Target), but we were just curious if anyone had any experience with any of them.  Thanks :)  I always appreciate your comments!

  • I try to stay away from anything made by Dorel, which is marketed under Eddie Bauer.

    Just curious, but why?

  • Eddie Bauer/Doral has a lot of recalls so best to stay away. I prefer the Chicco over the Graco. It's taller and just seems sturdier to me. We have family that has both and LO seems to be more comfortable in the Chicco and cries in the Graco but that could just be my kid

Oh wow, I didn't know that about the recalls.  I can't believe I didn't even think about that.  Thanks for the clarification!

  • We have the Chicco and absolutely love it! I've never had a Graco so I don't know anything about them though. My daughter is 6 months old and still sleeps in it at night. The changing station is very convenient and it is easy to fold up and travel with.

  • I've known many to have Graco and they are great.  I'm sure Chicco is excellent too.

Eddie Bauer never gets great reviews so I'd go with one of the others.

  • I really like our Graco Silhouette PNP.  The raised changing area is great and it's very sturdy.  It didn't tilt at all, even when DS was 17 lbs.  The bassinet worked really well too, DS slept in there for the first 4.5 months.  It was nice having him in our room and we didn't have any problems with transitioning to the crib later.

It doesn't say so in the manual, but I was able to fit the bassinet in the travel bag.  I just followed the instructions and then wrapped the bassinet around everything before pulling the bag all the way up.  I was also able to put the folded sheet on top before zipping the bag shut.
