Childcare Options in/near Vienna

My husband and I are expecting in October and I will likely take 6-12 weeks of maternity leave and go back to work in January.

I work for FCPS so it would be an added bonus to find a childcare provider who can work with the county calendar (so I am not paying for school vacations and some summer time).

We live in Vienna and would like to find a provider in Oakton/Falls Church/Vienna area. Any suggestions? We'd prefer to not spend over $350/week.

Re: Childcare Options in/near Vienna

  • We are really happy with our daycare, and it's in Oakton (Vienna address I think, but it's in "oakton").  It's just 20 a week more than you want to pay.  It's called Metzger Academy.  Page me if you want to discuss and maybe we can trade real email addresses or something.  And, oh - CONGRATS on your pregnancy!!!  So exciting!!

  • Can you email me? $350 is at the upper end of our budget but I wondered if you looked at other centers?

  • I realize this isn't in your target area, but our daycare in Centreville works with FCPS teachers so that you don't have to pay for summer break. It was the only center I found willing to do that. You will probably find more flexibility with an in home provider.

I *think* the Chesterbrook Academies offer a policy that after your first 3 months of full time enrollment, you get a 1 week credit that you could use towards Spring or Winter break. Not sure about all locations.

  • My neice went to Little Oxford House on Jermantown Rd several years ago.  I don't know what their prices are or their vacation/time off policies.  Most center-based daycares are not going be able to accomodate a lot of time off, especially at the infant age.  They rely on having a steady stream of kids to mind and if they loose the majority of their students at one time (say for summer vacation) then they can't support their staff.
