So I was at Origins because I had time (wow) and a coupon.
And I wanted to try a new facial lotion - so I opted for the free facial - where of course you get the sales pitch at the end.
I still only bought the lotion.
But they tell me all about facial toner in my skin care routine- and although it sounds fab 1) I don't have time for a lot of steps and 2) Do I really need it?
I always thought toner was like putting rubbing alcohol on your face. What are the benefits?
Do you use toner>?
Re: NBR: Your skin care routine
My skin care routine is to wash it every night before bed. I throw cold water on my face in the morning, pat dry, and then usually apply moisturizer. That's about it.
In my teens and 20's, I used facial scrubs and stuff, but haven't in a pretty long time. I have never used toner. ETA: I've also never had a facial, but that's mostly b/c I'm kind of creeped out by salon/spa/mani-pedi/massage treatments.

This was me too, but now Clinique doesn't work too well. I have teenage skin in my 30's. I use a high concentrated benzole peroxide face wash and oil free moisturizer. I am told that all this oil production will mean no wrinkles, but in the meantime, I have to suffer the acne. Toner just makes me produce way too much oil now.

I used to use a toner that was spritzed on. It was like a base for moisturizer. I definitley noticed a difference. I had to get over the Sea Breeze toner mindset of 1988.
Now I don't use toner and my skin is worse. I blame N.
So this is me too. I look like a teenager and the girl(s) who did my facials both said the same thing: Toner will even out our skin because the benzoly strips the skin and the toner adds back in what's needed so you don't over produce the oils that are stripped out by the wash.
It coudl be a bunch of BS: I still haven't bought a toner, but if I do I will let you know what the outcome is!!
I bought into this. It doesn't work. It's a bunch of bs. My derm told me no toner, just cleanser and oil free moisterizer, so that's what I do.

I use Dermalogica Multi Active Toner in the morning. It's a spray. It has made a huge difference; gives moisture but doesn't effect oil levels as I can get mucho greasy. I thought it was just another sale when my esthetician recommended it post-facial, but I've stuck with it for a few years now and still love it.
I wash my face with Cetaphil in the shower; at night I use pond's wipes if I wore makeup, just water if I didn't.
