sorry if it has been asked a lot but what do you all recommend for kids in the 21-24 month range for the pool? by the end of last summer they were both dying to get out of the raft thing so I know they'll need something more like a vest or whatever but no idea where to start...
thanks!
Re: best swimming float things for around 2 yo?
This is great for the pool. I would never use it in the ocean, but it is perfect for a pool. They can float and move on the own and the front isn't all up in their necks or hitting the chin. Plus, it is coast approved

That looks really cool but the minimum weight is 30 lbs and my kids are only around 25 or so right now...
someone wrote a review that their LO fit ok in it but others said it was too big if they were under 30 lbs so I better not try. bummer!
DD used this in swimming lessons, and we ended up getting one for our own use. You can gradually remove layers of the foam one at a time, progressively decreasing the buoyancy and their dependency on the float, as their swimming skills improve. It has worked great for us so far.
Progressive back float
I put both of my girls in the puddle jumpers when they were 25 months old and they are still now at almost 3 no where near 30 lbs. The only issue, I have to watch is the skinny minnie because the arm floats have a tendancy to slide down her arm when she is out of the water, again it is only because her arms are so skinny, they don't have any baby fat on them. She is still only 25lbs and will be 3 in July. My bigger twin was 26 lbs. when I put her in it at 25 months and they stayed up on her arms because she has the baby fat arms like a normal 2 year old.
The thing I like the most about the puddle jumper is, if they were to fall in the pool this float will flip them onto their backs with their head out of the water. Most floats out their causes their heads to fall forward into the water and that is why they are not good for kids under 3 because younger kids are not strong enough to keep themselves upright.
2 minutes after I put my girls in the puddle jumpers they had figured out how to keep themselves upright and could move themselves around the pool. I also bought 1 for each of my good friends that have boys around my girls age. So we have 4 little ones in the pool together all wearing their puddle jumpers and we feel much safer with them all in the pool at once.
