More stroller talk..

I have been on the hunt for a new single stroller.  Something lightweight, easy to maneuver and something that Rye will fit in for another few years.

I like the full recline feature as Audrey still takes naps in the double.  (Although if she is NOT sleeping, I cannot keep her in there for very long)

We went this weekend and really looked and tried out various strollers and most of the umbrella's I really did not like.. they didn't recline, Rye looked squished in them, or when I tried out Audrey in it, she was just to big.

I did like the Britax B nimble, but my FAVORITE was the City Mini.  I know alot of you guys on here have it and love it.  I can see why!

DH really wanted more of an umbrella style with a long lean fold to take on the boat.  I countered with we still have the cheapy umbrella that we can take when needed.

SO, would you consider the City Mini a lightweight stroller?  Is it too jogging like considering we have a BOB as well?  (a BOB ironman....no swivel wheel so it's not good as an everyday stroller, DH uses it jogging)

If you do have the City Mini, what is the best deal out there for buying one?  I found one on CL for 200, only used a few times and still in the box.  Is there a better deal online that you know of?

TIA

Re: More stroller talk..

  • Personally, we felt the CM was wider and bulkier than we were looking for.  We wanted more of an umbrella folding style/wheelbase width for tight spaces but with features like you'd see on "better" strollers like a basket, cushy handles, etc.  Plus the B Nimble was a lot cheaper (on Amazon.)  So far I am very happy with ours.  GL!

  • We LOVE our City Mini double. It is definitely bigger than an umbrella stroller though. It folds flat which is great for travel  - we can easily pack it in the car without taking up too much space. It has huge sun shades, the full recline (which I also like for diaper changes) and steers great for having 45+lbs of toddler in it.

I think I just saw that the 2010 models are on sale on albee baby and some other sites right now because the 2011 model just came out. Definitely worth checking out!

  • I have a city mini and a jogger.  They serve entirely different functions IMO.  O push my 1 year old or the 3 yo I nanny for in both.  For indoor or flat outdoor surfaces, I prefer the CM.  I also prefer it for anytime I need to carry a lot of stuff or will be pushing a kid all day.  I have flown with it.  Not the easiest to get through security.  Very lightweight, super simple to fold.  I use the jogger for running or walks that involve lots of hills.  Hard to find a deal, but they are pretty affordable as lightweight strollers go.
  • I have a City Mini and love it.  I have helped a lot of friends with babies and nannied a lot, so I'd tried lots of strollers.  I'd say it's very lightweight in comparison to a BOB, Bumbleride Indie, any travel system (Graco, Peg Perego, Chicco, etc.), or Jeep stroller.  It's about 15 lbs, I think, and I have no problem folding and carrying it with one hand.  Compared to a lot of umbrella strollers, it might not classify as lightweight.  However, it's much easier to maneuver for me than a lot of umbrella strollers I've tried.  I can jog with it, but I am not much of a runner and don't go off-trail much (which is not what it's designed for).  From what I've noticed at U-Village, it fits between clothing racks and narrow aisles much easier than a BOB, and it also fits into my trunk with more space to spare.

  • Have you looked at UPPABaby?  I was considering the G-Lite, but on recommendation from Mrs_Smith, we went with the G-Luxe.  I love it!  It collapses down umbrella style instead of just folding in half like a lot of others I looked at, has a full recline, comes with a cup holder and can stand on it's own when collapsed.

  • I have the CityMini...but looking back I think I could have been just as happy with the CityMicro...have you looked into that??
  • Brynn- yeah, DH liked the Uppa G -lux, but Rye took up the entire seat and I read an online review where it said it only goes up to 40 pounds. (rye is over 31)

I saw the city micro online, but they didn't have one at either Merry Go Round or BRU. I love the way the City Mini pushes. We have the Bumbleride Indie Twin and even with 62 pounds of kids in it, it pushes and turns like a dream hence why I want something equally nice to maneuver going back to a single.

  • It sounds like the Britax B-Nimble is what you need, although I love my Uppa Baby G-Lite.  :)
