DD had her shots today. While we were there I was asking my pedi a couple questions. I asked when he would suggest starting DD on cereal. He said that i SHOULD have started her at 8 weeks....and she SHOULD be eating it with a spoon. Really? She isn't even 3 months old...and I should be spoon feeding her? Why do I feel like this is a little to early...anyone spoon feeding their newborn already?

Re: confused...by my pedi?
Definitely wait on the cereal until at least 4 months unless your LO is having other issues, like reflux, etc.
Also, there is really no need to give kids juice, unless there's a constipation issue. They are better off just eating the actual fruit. Even for my 2.5 yr old juice is a 'treat' and it's 50/50 water and juice when he does get it.
HE IS!! He came SO highly recommended by everyone that I know. I've taken DD there 3 times and all 3 times I've had issues/complaints. At our first appointment he was completely impersonal . At the second appointment I asked a question and he treated me like I was crazy. (I forget the question, but I remember worrying and worrying that i was doing something wrong with DD and then he just dismissed me) and NOW he is telling me that my 11 week old is getting a late start at eating "solids." I am going to start the search for a new doc!
Another PP stated that juices are something that babies/children shouldn't have. I wasn't planning on doing them often...like you 50/50 on "special occasions." That is ANOTHER reason I was stumped by my doctor today....ugh. The people that I know that go to him are CRAZY!
Did you interview with him before you decided to select him? If not, I would definitely recommend doing this if you decide to search for a new doctor. YOu can get a great sense of their style and how you will like them. Good luck!
