Pregnant after IF

Did anyone have a really early u/s?

I've been having some discomfort/pain on my right side (sharp, stabby pain) and they want me to come in tomorrow for a 4th beta and an OB ultrasound.  I will be exactly 5 weeks.  Will they be able to see anything that early?

I'm just curious.  Thanks to everyone for your support during my freakout on Friday.  I'm really hoping I get to stick around here.

Re: Did anyone have a really early u/s?

  • Around the same time as you I had that really sharp stabbing pain and had convinced myself I was m/c'ing or it was ectopic.  Turns out I had cysts that were causing that pain.  I didn't have an u/s until 6w so I can't help you there, but I'd think you'd at least be able to see a gestational sac by then.  Good luck!  Hope that's all it is for you too!

It feels the same as a rupturing cyst, so I'm hoping that's it.  Of course my brain automatically goes the same route yours did.

  • I had some pain & lots of spotting, u/s was done at 5w6d and we were able to see a little bean with heartbeat.
  • I had the same kind of pain late last week and feared the same thing as you.  My nurse said it was most likely still enlarged ovaries or cysts.  U/s today confirmed that my ovaries are in fact still enlarged.

  • I had a u/s at 4 weeks because of OHSS (we obviously didn't see anything) and at 5w2d (we saw two gestational sacs and yolk sacs). GL!

  • I had the same thing at the same time in my pregnancy. I had an u/s at 5 weeks and they saw the beginnings of a tiny sac and some leftover ovarian cysts that were shrinking. GL to you!

  • My ultrasound on Friday will be at exactly 5 weeks as well.  They seem to expect that they'll see something.  T&P your way!

  • I've had an u/s every week since 5 weeks due to OHSS issues. At my first, they saw 2 sacs. I know it can be soooo stressful; just try and think positive (my pains were due to seriously large ovaries). GL tomorrow!!!

  • They should be able to at least see the sac. Mine was at 6wks and we were able to see the sac, the baby, and the heart flickering. I've had pains since about 4 wks too. They told me its the uterus pulling on the ligaments, and the hormones making things 'stretchy' down there to make room for growth.
  • At 5 weeks 3 days we saw the gestational sac.  The doctor did warn us that they weren't sure if we would see it then, so I wouldn't freak out if you don't see it.
