i just got my bff a couple weeks ago and i love it
i don't have a packabe to compare to but from what i've read from other people, it's all a matter of how you prefer to pack
i love the bff because of the way it opens, i can see everything i have packed in there clearly, as compared to the packabe in that vertical backpack style.
it's also an advantage while in the car. i have the bff on the passenger seat, and if i need to get something out of it i can just reach in and grab it without having to dig around
i love that the bff has the backpack straps, and the messenger strap and i interchange between both frequently

I agree with the packability option being easier to view with the BFF. I've read that it can be uncomfortable/awkward on your back. Do you feel like it is?
Every night I prayed for you. Then when you were in my belly, I prayed harder. Now that you're in my arms, I pray even harder.
apparently some of the first generation bff's had this issue.
i got my bff in the shadow waltz pattern and apparently that's part of the 2nd generation which corrected the issues with the backpack straps. so no problems for me, it's been perfectly comfortable...
from what i've read on jjb's facebook wall, most places you order it from you can ask to make sure it's a 2nd generation
