XP: Over the top/ritzy nearby resorts

My cousin from Philly called last night to tell me that she is coming to my shower at the end of May - she and her husband and baby (who was born in December) are coming along with my other cousin, her husband, and my aunt will be coming from Wisconsin. After my shower they want to take a relaxing, over the top few days at a nearby luxury, over the top resort since they never took a honeymoon (it was the second marriage for both).

We checked the Ritz in Half Moon Bay and it's entirely booked that week! So I was thinking Carmel Valley/Carmel by the Sea or Napa Valley.

I'm working on a list of really nice resorts, but wondered if anyone had any others to suggest or if you stayed at any of the below and would or would not recomend them. 

Carmel valley: Bernardus Lodge

Napa Area: Carneros Inn; Calistoga Ranch; Bardesonno in Yountville.

    How fun!  If money was no object, I'd want to stay at either Auberge du Soleil or Meadowood - both in wine country.

    Hadn't thought of that. We'll probably join them for a night or two, just not at the same resort since we don't live that lifestyle. I'll look into that. I think they'd love to be near the water.

    There's also the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa...I've always wanted to stay there!

    I have a good friend that works at Carneros inn. Its amazing and the resturants are great she is the sous chef at the more casual one

    Monterrey Plaza Hotel is wonderful and overlooks the bay. Right by the aquarium, very fancy and comfortable.

    I second the Pebble Beach rec. I haven't actually stayed there (had dinner at one of their restaurants) but the Inn at Spanish Bay looks super ritzy to me. I've also heard good things about Bernardus Lodge.

    Kenwood Inn and Spa in Sonoma. Fantastic. We did a couples massage and in room breakfast with champagne. Beautiful grounds, views and the room was amazing.
