I love wearing DS in the k'tan sling. So far we've only used the kangaroo/cradle hold but I want to try out some others like the hug hold. When did you start to wear LO in different holds?

Love my K'Tan! We just started using the hug hold this past week as he's got pretty good neck/head control for short periods for this position

DS has gotten pretty good with his head control so this is what I was thinking too. I think we'll try it out later today
I'm waiting for my LO to be able to hold her head up a little better. I don't mind though, I love the cradle position, she just looks so cozy in there.
Side note: People around here clearly are not used to seeing babies carried like this. I stuck Scarlett in the k'tan when I went to the mall the other day. One person thought I was carrying my purse around my neck and somebody else actually asked me if she was a real baby. No, I like to go to the mall and carry a fake baby around for funsies!

The upright tummy to tummy position (hug hold) is actually the best carry. Cradle carries can be tricky to get right (hard to avoid the chin to chest danger position).

How funny! I've noticed the same thing, I usually get a shocked face and an "oh I didn't even realize that was a baby in there" to which I always think, what else would it be-a cat??

So short answer - go for the hug hold ;-)
