Aversion to Sugar

Anyone else with an aversion to sweets? They give me the WORST aftertaste. It's such a shame because Easter candy is my FAVORITE and I have a serious sweet tooth normally! My mom gave me a huge basket of candy yesterday and I can't even bare to look at it! I so hope this passes with 1st tri, but I'm starting to doubt it. I miss my candy, cake, ice cream and cookies! Anyone else have this issue?

  • I have the SAME thing!! A total aversion to anything sweet, and it started at like 5 or 6 weeks.  I can handle fruit and natural fruit juices, but anything with added sugar (candy, cookies, etc.) makes me ill. So weird!

  • I kind of wish I did!  Unfortunately pretty much all I want is chocolate.  Big Smile
  • Lucky! I'm normally a really healthy eater and now I want candy/chocolate all the time.

  • i don't have a problem with the taste of sweets, but i have no desire for them. in fact the thought of them makes me kind of ill. it's weird because i normally have the worst sweet tooth! i can't complain though--it's gone a long way toward keeping my weight gain in check. :)  (sorry for no caps--bumping from my phone.)
  • Uhh I wish sweets were my aversion lol. I'm scared that the doctor's office will weigh me in 2 weeks and be like "Uhhhh you're not supposed to be that fat yet.." haha.

  • Umm... I have the opposite of a sugar aversion... I have a pan of yellow cake with chocolate frosting sitting on my stove right now calling my name. I don't know how long I'm going to be able to hold out!

I know it's dissapointing to dislike foods you used to love though! Some of my favorite foods are now in the "there's no way I could stomach that" category. I'm hoping my regular appetite shows back up in the next few weeks!

  • I was like that for the past few weeks.  However.....this weekend I fully regained my chocolate appetite.  That is all I seem to be eating now!

  • I can't stand the thought of sugar right now.  I actually had a strawberry cupcake last week that made me sick.  I'm staying away from it for now.  Which is good - at least I'm eating healthy.

  • Yeah, I should be glad I'm not shoveling M&Ms by the handful, but now I'm craving nachos and french fries like mad! So I guess theres the trade-off. Lol!

  • I still enjoy the occasional cookie or mini Twix bar but I notice if I have something like a donut for breakfast it makes me so sick.  I get really nauseous if I don't protein.

  • I don't have an aversion to it, but I definitely don't crave chocolate like I used to.  All I want is salty stuff- chips, popcorn, etc.

  • I did have an aversion to sugar for a little while- even my beloved dark chocolate made me sick! But the sweet tooth is back, so now I'm trying to find mostly healthy ways to curb it.
  • I did have a sugar aversion, for about two weeks, but not so much anymore... every trip to the grocery store involves some new goodie (as I'm finishing my newest purchase, a chocolate covered banana)

  • No, this baby is craving sugar!  But I'm actually being good about it...when I get the sweet craving, I turn to juices and fruit.  I make sure I keep pineapple in the fridge and lots of Simply Apple apple juice.  But when I get stressed I throw caution to the wind and grab something with some chocolate...I'm no saint. Angel

However, I did just go for a follow-up on my bloodwork yesterday, and I'm down 5 pounds from when I first went in, which is really about 7lbs, given I have gained some uterus/baby/extra blood weight.  At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Cake<--------------see, when I put that smiley in the first paragraph, I saw cake and that stupid little icon made my mouth water!!

And on the flip side, my usually cravings for salt (I was really a salty food kind of girl...sweets were never my thing) have almost completely subsided.  No fries, or chips, or anything.  I guess it's just a trade off.  But if this continues, I totally picture myself, 8 months pregnant on the couch polishing off a tub of Ben and Jerry's.  And my husband will completely indulge me!  Bad man...Devil

  • I definitely lost my sweet tooth! Pre-pregnancy, I was ALWAYS in the kitchen baking cakes, cookies, brownies, blondies--and my husband doesn't have a sweet tooth, so I'd end up giving away some to friends, but eating quite a fair bit. I haven't baked a thing since I've been pregnant, nor bought any pastries from bakeries. I especially can't stand the thought of chocolate and it was always my #1 indulgence!
