Need rec for a plastic surgeon in MD

PLEASE don't flame me for asking this. I'm not getting a mommy makeover. I have wanted a breast reduction for YEARS and now after having a baby it is only worse. MUCH worse as it turns out. I am so tired of back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, shoulder notches, hunching over, and not being able to run! I don't know anyone who has had plastic surgery to ask for a recommendation and my PC doc didn't have a recommendation. I thought maybe someone here might have some thoughts on docs that are good, and docs to avoid (beyond the Washingtonian magazine, which is a great resource). Hearing someone's firsthand experience would be helpful. Thanks!

  • No flames, just a thought for you.  If you plan on having more kids, I would hold off on a reduction and I imagine most plastic surgeons would recommend this as well. Also, you probably know this already, but if you have a certain amount of tissue removed (I can't recall at this time what it is...) it can be covered by insurance.

  • I don't have any recommendations for you but ditto pp. My SIL needs a reduction and her doctor told her there is a good chance she wouldn't be able to BF afterwards so she's waiting until after she's done having babies. Her insurance will cover it because it's causing her back problems.

Also I wouldn't flame you if you were asking for recs so you could get a mommy makeover, I'm hoping to get one when we're done ;)

  • I'm not going to have any more babies. We had all kinds of IF issues, so just glad to have our one beautiful little peanut!
  • No flames! My friend had this procedure done and was so much happier after. If you're not/done BFing, I'd say go for it.

She saw Dr. Olding with the DC Cosmetic Surgery Center (near Foggy Bottom) and had a really great experience.

  • my mom had it done several years ago and she says it is the best thing she has ever done (and wished she had done it several years earlier)! She went to Dr. Lowe in Annapolis.

  • i have had numerous procedures with Dr. Jabs in Bethesda - including breast stuff. He also has an office in McLean. He is AMAZING! i visited several before consulting him and they just couldn't compare. he's brilliant, and artist and is up on all the latest techniques and technology. can't recommend him more and will probably return to him when i am post-baby making for some fixing up......  https://www.cosmeticplastics.com/

he has also done work on my sister and mother and a close friend. all very happy.

  • My friend got one with Dr. Barry Cohen and LOVED it.

Dr. Cohen does my botox and will do my tummy tuck when I'm done having kids.

I have also heard great things about this partner, Dr. Adam Tattelbaum.

Congrats on your decision to have a mommy makeover!! :-)

  • I highly recommend dr wendy gottlieb. She specialize in breast surgery! I went to her but for a breast aug and so did 2 of my friends. Great work, scars arent that noticable.
