What age are you waiting to allow nail polish? (If you don't already)
I definitely will do something like Piggy Paint, which has less chemicals.. but my DD caught me off guard the other day asking about coloring her fingernails. I said no polish and she said without hesitation, she would use a marker (lol, I told her it was a bad idea). My DD is not much for princesses and girly stuff, although lately she likes me doing her hair differently every day, and sort of getting into princess stuff.
I never thought about it, but how long will you wait, and why? (I have nothing against those who let their kids use polish early, but we want to wait.. I just don't know how long..)
Re: Nail polish
DD's nails have never been painted, but I think I'm going to paint her toe-nails this year.
Well, if we have a daughter, I'm taking her to the salon with me at 4 or 5 years old. She can get whatever she wants. I don't see the big deal in not letting her paint her nails. That's if she doesn't act up like my boys do. But girls in my family tend to be more calm, so I don't think it will be an issue.
My Dad wouldn't let us paint our nails 'til we were almost 10 for whatever reason. I would sneak my Mom's nail polish (bright red) and just paint dots on my nails. I think I was 7 or 8, and he saw my nails one day. He didn't say anything and still don't know why.
I don't want to imagine a life without nail polish.
My dd first got her nails painted when she was 17 months when she was a flowergirl and we painted them occasionally ever since.
Madelyn already gets her nails painted. We started letting her get her toe nails painted when she asked for them to be done. I think she was around 2. We let her get her fingernails painted when she stopped putting them in her mouth.
I just painted both her fingers and her toes this morning. She loves it. She's very into all things girl.
