South Florida Babies

New the boards: First post for OB/hospital recs up north. :)

Hi Ladies!

I've been lurking for 2 or 3 weeks....and am very excited to finally participate.   I just got my BFP and am 5 weeks along.  VERY EARLY, I know but wanted to pop in and say "Hi!" none-the-less.  :

I also have a big favor to ask of you all.  I am searching for a new OB/GYN from the Jupiter/Stuart area and was hoping anyone familiar with Drs up there could recommend theirs.  I currently go to Physicians to Women in Stuart, but am not so sure I want to keep going there for OB care. I hate the wait time everytime I go and I feel more like a number than a patient there.  I hear you have to be rotated among all the Doctors there so you can't establish a relationship and such with a certain Dr.  I'm hoping to deliver in Martin Memorial or Jupiter so I need a Dr affiliated with those locations.  This might sound silly, but it's very important to me that photos be allowed to be taken during delivery.  (Not necessarily of "down there" but just of the whole labor and delivery time.)  I've heard rumors that many of the hospitals are switching their policies to not allow photos during delivery until after baby has been checked out!  Can anyone confirm this for the hospitals in Jupiter and Stuart?

So, in short:  I need rec's for OB/GYN in the northern areas of Jupiter/Stuart

Who's your OB/GYN?

Why do you like them?

When did they start your prenatal care?

Did you have to be on an office rotation?

What hospital are they affiliated with?

Thanks so much!!! :)

  • I go to OBGYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches (https://www.ogspb.com/).  I used to go (and started my twin pregnancy with) Partners in Health seeing Dr Shaya.  I was very unhappy and swiched right around 6 weeks pregnant.  You either love or hate Dr Shaya, I was the latter.Who's your OB/GYN?  OBGYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches.  I saw Dr Vangilder (love her), Dr. Fishman (LOVE him), Dr Melendy (LOVE HER!!! and she delivered my boys)Why do you like them? Love them, but hate the wait at the office and not a fan of their front office staff. When did they start your prenatal care? At 5 weeks.  Found out it was twins at 6 weeks and essentially had to see them a lot more than a low risk pregnancy.  So I was there a LOT and saw pretty much every Dr in the Jupiter practice.  Their high risk MFM (whom I also had to see regularly due to having twins) is Dr Jones and she's great!.  Their office would probably do your anatomy scans, etc.  Ask for Dr Jones, nor Dr Morel!Did you have to be on an office rotation? I saw mostly my 3 favorite Drs, but on occassion I saw different ones (but keep in mind I had to go every 2 weeks...then every week and towards the end 2 times per week...)What hospital are they affiliated with? St Mary's and Jupiter Medical. Hope that helps and congratulations!

  • oh as for pictures, I don't think that's a problem at Jupiter!.  I had to have a c-section at St Marys (needed to be in a hospital with level 3 NICU just in case we needed it) and the nurses took pictures for us during the c-section!...so I doubt they would have a problem in either hospital to let you take pictures..
