Twin Moms Check-In

I know we have quite a few ladies expecting twins (I don't think we have any triplets, but if I'm wrong, apologies!!), and I thought it would be nice to see how everyone is doing.

So how goes it?

Can you still tell who is kicking?

What kind of practitioner are you seeing--peri/MFM, OB, MW?

Are you having to go for NSTs?

Are you getting more frequent ultrasounds?

When will you stop working?

Re: Twin Moms Check-In

  • So how goes it?

Pretty well....holding steady on bedrest.  DH and FIL put the cribs together this weekend, and wow, two cribs take up a LOT of room!

Can you still tell who is kicking?

    Sometimes, not always.

What kind of practitioner are you seeing--peri/MFM, OB, MW?

I had been seeing a MW, but she switched me to a peri.  I think California has rules that somewhat restrict a MW's ability to deliver multiples.

Are you having to go for NSTs?

Yup, my first one is Friday and then I go twice a week.

Are you getting more frequent ultrasounds?

No, which I found surprising.  They are concerned about the inaccuracies in the measurements increasing as I get closer to term, and they want there to be enough time in between ultrasounds for there to be measurable differences beyond the error rate.

    When will you stop working?

I've been working from home since I got put on bedrest, and it hasn't stressed me out, and I'm hoping to keep going until mid-May.

  • Hello fellow twin moms! So how goes it?Things are going OK. I am starting to develop a routine while I am on bed rest. I have been trying to find lots of things to keep me busy and sane. I am getting so excited and nervous about the arrival of my girls. It seems so close but so far at the same time.  Can you still tell who is kicking? Yes.  What kind of practitioner are you seeing--peri/MFM, OB, MW?I see an OB once a week and an MFM once a month.   Are you having to go for NSTs?Not yet.  Are you getting more frequent ultrasounds? Right now I am getting an ultrasound once a month, but as of the 29th, I will be going every two weeks.  When will you stop working? I stopped working on March 28th when I was put on bed rest.
  • So how goes it? Pretty good! I don't have too many complaints and have stayed fairly active.  The shortness of breath is the only thing I would complain about! Can you still tell who is kicking? Yes. Both are head-down, parallel to each other so it's usually pretty obvious which one is moving around. What kind of practitioner are you seeing--peri/MFM, OB, MW?I have a midwife but have also been going to a specialized Multiples Clinic where I see an OB and have biweekly ultrasounds.  Are you having to go for NSTs?Not yet.  Are you getting more frequent ultrasounds? Every other week.  When will you stop working? I'm not working anymore. I stopped a few weeks ago. Life is as stress-free as it could be (while expecting two babies!!)

    So how goes it?

Ok, it's hard to tell as a FTM if these aches and pains are normal or not.  At my last appt. on Friday Baby a was 4.3lbs and Baby b was 4.1lbs, good cervical length, good fluid levels, good BP, my GD is under control, no contractions.   I am spilling protein and my swelling is awful (but has been for quite awhile).

Can you still tell who is kicking?

Yep, they are in there like Yin and Yang so one kicks at the top and one kicks at the bottom.  I really wish Baby b would move more often - she freaks me out!

What kind of practitioner are you seeing--peri/MFM, OB, MW?

MFM and a midwife - they are all together at the hospital

Are you having to go for NSTs?

Had my first on Friday - almost fell asleep in the recliner!  I have to go 2x a week for the rest of my pregnancy - seems like a lot to meHuh?

Are you getting more frequent ultrasounds?

I was getting one every 4 weeks, but now am on to every other week.

    When will you stop working?

:::Big Sigh::: Today.  I argued long and hard against it.  I am not on bed rest, just house arrest -- whatever that means.  I thought with so much good news that I could keep going.  My job is not stressful and has a full-time nurse.  I can easily be swollen and uncomfortable at work!!!  My Dr is worried that I will develop pre-e.  I go for the steriod shots tomorrow and Wednesday.

  • So how goes it?

For the most part everything is going great other than the usual aches and pains.

Can you still tell who is kicking?

Yes, baby A has always be way low and baby B has been up high.

What kind of practitioner are you seeing--peri/MFM, OB, MW?

I'm currently seeing my OB every 2 weeks for the routine check up and then I see a Peri weekly for BPPs & Growth checks.

Are you having to go for NSTs?

I actually started NSTs 2 weeks ago and will continue to have them weekly at my Peri appts. (They are kind of a PIA)

Are you getting more frequent ultrasounds?

I get an ultrasound every single time a see my Peri and that is now weekly.

    When will you stop working?

I plan to continue working up until I have them or a scheduled C-section date.

  • Nice to hear from all of you!  I'm hoping we can have these check-ins weekly.

    So how goes it?

Going well! No complications or major complaints. Slowing down a little though...

Can you still tell who is kicking?

Sometimes, but it has become harder because one baby is now breech and the other is transverse. But they are parallel so I can usually tell.

What kind of practitioner are you seeing--peri/MFM, OB, MW?

Just seeing an OB. Went simultaneously to a peri in the beginning but they decided it wasn't necessary after the first tri.

Are you having to go for NSTs?

    Not yet

Are you getting more frequent ultrasounds?

Once a month. Will be every other week starting in two weeks.

    When will you stop working?

April 29th at 32 weeks. Not bed rest, just staying home...
