My DH and I drove up to his parents house over the weekend for just a visit. We didn't plan on telling them until we were out of our first tri. We even played, Rock, Paper, Scissor and flipped a coin (heads-share, tails- don't share) to determine if we were going to share the news...but it always ended with tails.
Well, my sister had sent me videos and pictures of here toddlers on my phone and I wanted to share them with the MIL. I usually set it up right on the picture/video to see, then she hands my phone back to me. This time, she wanted to play with my phone and kept scrolling backwards. (At this point, she had just finished watching a video of my niece brushing her teeth and giving different facial expressions....so cute...) While scrolling back, she sees a clearblue Pregnancy test.... and she says..."wow, that's a cool brush..."!!! My jaw dropped and I swiped my phone out of her hands very rudely...but thank goodness she has a laid back sense of humor...then she said it out loud again..."A clearblue toothbrush...??? Oh my gosh....!!! Are we going to have a baby....!?!?!?" I looked at my DH and he said, "yes Mom, your going to be a grandma...!!!" They couldn't be happier. There was jumping around from Grandma to be and lots of kisses...I did get in a little trouble since we've been lying to them both for 4 weeks now...but they are totally over it...!!! She then mentioned, no wonder you've been moody and wanting to nap all the time...lol
I'm glad they found out the way they did, now lets see if they can keep a secret for another 4 weeks...!!!
Re: My In-Laws accidentally found out...!!!
Life in the Making
That's a fun way for them to find out.
My grandma outed me this weekend as well. I was trying to keep it on the downlow until the end of the first tri, just in case something goes wrong. So after our last skype conversation last week, she guessed something and this time around, she asked me straight in the face and I had no choice but to tell her the truth!
She was so excited!
I'm not sure how I'm going to get through Easter this weekend without my in-laws figuring it out, we go through quite a few bottles of wine at Easter. I'm thinking I might take advantage of the nasty stomach bug that was going around our school last week and tell them I'm getting over it and can't handle the wine....we'll see how successful I am.
My mother's already been giving me the crazy side-eye when I didn't have a drink when we went out for dinner last night.....she's super nosy and wouldn't stop asking questions (we're still working on her accepting that I am not 16 anymore and don't need to share every little secret with her)
