Hi all -
My four-year-old is extremely shy and while he has been potty trained since 2 1/2 he will NOT ask to go at preschool. He just won't raise his hand and speak up if he needs to go. He has had only one accident at preschool b/c they have scheduled times in which all the kids are taken to the bathroom but I am worried b/c we are changing schools in the fall to a pre-k program (he misses the K cutoff) and I am worried that if they don't have a set time that he just won't make it through the morning. He is fine at home and just goes whenever he needs to. He doesn't ask or need to be told, he just goes. We have talked repeatedly about him just telling the teacher if he needs to go but he absolutely refuses to do so. I am not sure what to do about next year. Is this a topic that I should bring up to his new teachers at the beginning of the year or just let it go and see how he does. Does anyone else have a child who does this? FWIW he also does not volunteer in class (raise his hand to answer a questions, etc.) but will always speak up and answer when called upon...
