Killer headache

I've had a killer headache all day today. I think it might be a migraine--light hurts, very intense pain, etc. My darling husband is out running errands and picking me up a soda. Caffeine has always been a helper with my headaches, and since it's coupled with allergies too, I am hoping it will help to knock both down a bit.

Anyone else getting bad headaches???? I am about 11.5 weeks along.

Re: Killer headache

  • Every time you post, I swear we are the same person. I've had killer headaches for awhile. I always get them in the afternoon, and they last until 7ish (or bedtime, whichever comes first. I'm just suffering through. The funny thing is, I never got headaches unless hung over.

  • When you get dehydrated, your body will tell you with a killer headache. Drink lots of water! (along with your soda :))

  • It's crazy, because I've been drinking tons of water!!!!

  • If the headaches continue, call your doc. It's totally normal, but if it's a migraine, Tylenol won't even touch it & you might need more than the caff- I take Fiorecet for mine b/c none of my migraine meds are safe during pregnancy. It really helps & the headaches usually get better in the 2nd Tri.

LOL, I guess it makes sense, since our due dates are so close!

  • Yeah, I have had horrible headaches since Friday.  The only thing that has helped is sleeping.  GL, I hope it goes away soon.

My Dr. just gave me a script of Fiorecet last week.  I have been getting the worse migraines:(   OP I hope the soda helps but if not call your Dr. :)

  • Just chiming in that you are SO not alone!  I've had one that has been coming and going all day.  Fluids seem to help, but sometimes you've just drank all of the water you feel like drinking, you know?
"I know not all that may be coming, but be it what it will, I'll go to it laughing."

  • My migraines have gotten significantly worse since my pregnancy with DD, worse than that post partum, and even more worse now that I'm expecting again.

I've had 3 migraines in the last week alone.. so bad that I ended up in the ER with 2 of them =(

Because almost none of the preventative measures during pregnancy are safe, I'm on Dilaudid for pain until the neurologist can figure out what is causing them =/

I would absolutely call your doctor if it doesn't get better, and I would mention you had a awful headache at your next appt!

It's due to the expanded blood volume in your body. Normal, but uncomfortable.

  • I get Migraines too and my doctor told me to chase the Tylenol with some coffee or a soda. I am hoping that maybe the migraines will go away while I am pregnant....wishful thinking, but maybe I will get lucky :)

    Hope you are feeling better.

  • I have had a headache on and off for the past two days, but by the time the day is almost over I ready to hide in bed in the dark. I've had headaches in the 1st tri with DD too. My dr. just has me take tylenol with a coke or coffee.

  • I had the worst headaches in the beginning of the second tri with DD.  Coke (and it had to be real coke, not diet) and tylenol helped and some days actually kicked it.

They went away the further along I got.

Good to know my self-medicating is what quite a few doctors suggest! It has helped quite a bit!

I am working with a MW, and we have an appointment on Friday. I'll ask her if she has any suggestions....

  • Tons of headaches, in fact I have one right now.  I have been getting migraines as well just as you described: light sensitivity, super intense, etc. My doc said that we Tylenol just isn't helping I can take an ibuprofen every now and then, but I would of course check with your doctor first. Hang in there!
