Home remedies for eczema?

My daughter has a little patch of what I think is exzema on her chin.  It's bumpy and red but doesn't seem to bother her and has been sticking around for a few weeks.  I've tried OTC hydrocortisone on it and just our regular aquaphor.  Anybody found anything that has really helped exzema (preferably FAST--in time for 2nd b-day in 2 weeks-ha!)

  • Bag Balm works well sometimes for us.

  • Tea tree oil -- Trader Joe's makes a soap that I LOVE, but I also have a lotion with it and the oil in a bottle.

  • Hydrocortisone cream and aveeno baby lotion at every diaper change(just worked great as my reminder to reapply) and my daughters would clear up in a matter of days.

You shouldn't use hydrocortisone cream more than 3 times a day. Follow the directions on the tube, please. Hydrocortisone cream is a steroid and is absorbed into the bloodstream.
  • Aquafor always works for us, we still use it all the time.
  • DD's got a little better when we used hypoallergenic, fragrance free shampoo and lotion. But, it didn't clear up completely until I stopped giving her wheat. It turns out eczema is actually an allergic reaction or sensitivity and it could be something she is eating. DD's eventually went away, so she can eat wheat now.
