Air Filters

What kind of air filters do you have?  He has some allergy issues, and an air filter definitely helps. 

DH and I are looking to change ours...  we have some room air filters where you have to replace the filter/carbon regularly.  It's getting old and there has to be a better way.  Someone had once mentioned whole house air filters (this was a while ago).. I can't remember who/how much/etc.. or if that's even the best option.

    We used Logan's for our furnace repair and they have a whole house filtration system that doesn't require filter changes.  I can't for the life of me remember what it was called though.  He gave us a rough estimate for cost, but we decided not to do it right now.  I think it was somewhere in the ballpark of $1200.   It is something though we'll probably do here in the next year or two, I have allergies and I'm sure DD will get cursed with them as well.
