Hi. I delivered my son at 34 weeks. He was 4lbs 10oz and 18 inches long. He has been doing amazingly in ISN and hasn't had any health issues.
He is due to be released today but the nurse mentioned he lost 3 grams last night. It doesn't sound like very much at all to me, and she said he should be still set to be discharged, but we are waiting for the doctor to make his rounds today.
Do any of you think that 3 grams would really keep him in there, or is this normal and something that his pediatrician can keep an eye on. It sounds to me that me may have just had a bigger BM.
...his last feeding he chugged down 50ml, and normally has been eating around 40-50ml each feeding.
Re: weight loss question
Our LO was in a very similar situation and lost the night before she was set to be discharged. In the end she was still able to come home that day, though they scheduled home health to come and do a weight check the next day, and a follow up physician appointment for 2 days out. The doctor looked at all of her records and came to the conclusion that the one loss was not reason to stay another day.
Hoping that your little one comes home soon!
