My husband and I have decided that we both want me to stay home after the baby is born. Financially, I know we can swing it but we'll definitely be pinching pennies. Anyone else planning on staying home after baby is born? I'm excited to be able to have the opportunity, but nervous about the financial aspect of it!
Re: Anyone planning to be a SAHM after baby is born?
We decided that I was going to stay home when our second was born, we moved in a smaller home, paid off our cars, made a way for margin in our lives. It was not easy and there were months were I thought we may not make it, but we always did. The Lord provided a way. I have been at home 4years now and would never dream of going back to work. We are now having our third and everyday, I am grateful for my time at home. You will not regret your decision.
For a little while, although it's not entirely by choice.
We are moving to Germany (husband is in the Air Force) and I will be about 20 weeks pregnant when we arrive. So, finding a job is going to be difficult enough, and I would feel pretty badly working only for 20 weeks until baby was born. And, I don't know if they would hire me if my bump is visible by then.
Hopefully after a little while I can work there, because it's going to be pretty difficult to not work for three years, and then move back to the states and expect to find a job.
I am a little (ok, lot) freaked out about my loss in pay, but hopefully it's a good thing for a short time.

I will be a SAHM after the babies are born.
Childcare for TWO babies is scary to think about. Probably would cost more a week than I'd be making at any job lol.

This exactly. Daycare is ridiculously expensive out here...I'm hoping to be able to swing staying home, and hopefully I'll be able to do some freelance work from home to get a bit of extra income.

I went back to work when my DD was 3 months old. The plan was for me to stay at home but after getting engaged and realizing how much weddings cost it was best for me to return to work.
Then, I got pregnant with #2 and we decided to have a smaller, less expensive wedding and I will be quitting work soon to stay at home with DD and soon to be DC2.
A majority of the reason is not only to stay at home with DD, but I have been getting several migraines (at least 2-3 a week) where I most likely end up in the ER or completely out of it from pain med's so I'm not working anyway and it is just better for my health to be able to rest a little more.
It's very scary, we are taking a huge hit by me quitting and it does change some of our plans, but it is definitely possible especially if we both focus on spending less
Plus my dream always was to stay at home with the kids!
