Braxton Hicks...

I've been having braxton hicks on and off since Thursday afternoon around 3ish. When I lay down they go away, but walking/standing is when they happen. I am completley hydrated and getting thru the Flu so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Baby has been just as active though. I got them with DS but not this early?

Re: Braxton Hicks...

  • Call your doc if you haven't already. There's a certain number of them per hour that's not really safe. They'd want to know if you were having lots. I get them a lot too and they've started earlier each pg. Pretty annoying, but a good reminder to me to drink water and/or take it easy.

  • Thank you, I called, the midwife on call said that if I am having them every 5 mins for 2 hours or get painful etc to go in. I have not been having them that regularly, I may be having a dozen to a dozen and a half thru out the day, all over the place. I'm keeping an eye on it though, I had them with DS but not until 25-28 weeks.

  • I'm only 18 weeks, and the same thing is happening to me. I'm a FTM! They started at like 16 weeks. When mine started, I had just gotten over a bad stomach flu!!

It was happening when I had my u/s last week too, but I didn't even know it. They don't feel like "real" contractions though, just like cramps now. When I felt them at 16 weeks they were strong (I had a m/c at ~13 weeks last year, so I know what mild contractions feel like).

     Are yours really strong?

My doctor isn't worried...he said the only thing I can do is try to take it easy. I really hope you feel better!!
