NBR: Need a Tan in a Tube rec

I have neither the time or cash to go Mystic.  I would find the cash and the time to go old school Snooki and get in the tanning bed, which I love, but I don't want cancer, and I know how bad it is for you, blah blah blah.

I need something relatively inexpensive that I can apply at home that won't stain my towels or make me look like an Oompa Loompa.  I want to be able to put it on my face too.  I'm feeling very Jersey Shore about my need for a tan.  I'm headed out to Bath and Bodyworks later, anyone try anything from them?!?!

A girl at school told me she like Jergens, she said non-smelly and super cheap.  Anyone try?

Tan flab looks better than fleshy white flab!!  Help a sister out.

  • I was a MOH in a wedding where the dresses were halter tops and I had the worst tan lines. I paid a salon to do a spray on tan in the spots where I was blaring white so I wouldn't look funny in pictures. It actually turned out awesome. The product that they used was "Giesee SUN - Self Tanning Micro Mist Instant Tint Aerosol Spray".

All I can say is that when she was applying it, it is like spray painting something. Start with a very thin layer and apply thin layers as needed as the previous layers dry. It also darkened up a little more a few hours later.

I'm not sure what you are looking to spend but 6 oz is about $25.

  • Oh yeah, make sure to wear gloves when you apply it. Nothing makes people laugh more than "tan" palms. You can always do the backs of your hands when you are down with the rest of your body.

    THIS is a good tip!

  • One more thing I just remembered.. Get an exfoliating scrub and exfoliate first. That way you get rid of any skin that's about to peel off because you don't want a blotchy look a few days after you do it.

  • aveda has a self tanner. Not streaky, easy to put on etc etc.

Bri and I both used it and loved it !

  • My favorite is Bare Escentuals Faux Tan. Plus, its not stinky, IMO. You can buy it at Sephora and other places, I think its about $25 or so.

  • I like the Jergens daily lotion stuff.  It goes on just like a normal lotion.  You have to use it a few days in a row, but it's subtle so you don't get streaky or orange and the smell isn't as bad as some of the others.  I also really like the Clinique stuff but it's a little more expensive and requires a more careful application.

  • I've also used the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze and while I liked the color it gave, the smell was a bit much for me.  I had to apply at bedtime so I didn't smell it all day.

  • Can I just say that i'm disappointed this is "NBR?"  I was hoping you were finally ready to get Alex going on the pageant circuit!  ;)
