I can't tell if it is just allergies (I feel better inside than out) or if I am actually getting sick... but I am on vacation this week and fully intended to spend the majority of the time at the NICU working on BF. What do you do if you get sick while your baby is in the NICU? Do you wear a mask and wash your hands a lot? I can't imagine not going... Help!
Re: Sick and the NICU
If you feel something is coming on, I would definitely wear a mask, even now.
As bad as it sucks, if you actually get sick I wouldn't go. It's just not worth it to get your preemie sick. And, especially if your LO is in an open pod setup - what if you got someone else's LO sick?
Sorry - I know this isn't what you wanted to hear. And, it sucks - so I hope it is just allergies!!

It depends on your symptoms I guess. I would air on the safe side of staying home.
DH was sick once and neither of us visited the NICU for a week. It sucked. Another time I got a rash and we were out for 2 days until I could confirm I was nothing contagious - turned out just to be a dry skin rash irritated by stress. But, I was glad I didn't take a chance!
I would probably try to get some extra sleep tonight, drink a lot of water, and see how you feel tomorrow.
