How many items on a registry?

My friend went with me to help finish my registry and I added what I thought was too much!  My mom said to me today on the phone that she didn't think I had very much stuff on my registries.  I have a total of 89 things between Amazon and BRU.  She couldn't think of anything that I missed, but still thought that there wasn't enough stuff.  Is she nuts or am I way off?  Thanks!

  • As long as you have everything, I'd ignore her! Hah! Mom's love to worry! Did you do the checklist that they have available on here to make sure you got it all??

  • I had about 60 or so.  Friends and family purchased about 25 gifts from that.  I bought out most of the rest with gift cards and will make the final purchases with my completion coup.  Although, what's left is diapers, wipes, and a swimsuit, lol.  Maybe I will have to add more to make my coupon worth it.
  • Put on whatever you think you'll need. The person at BRU helping me start my registry suggested I have 250 items ::eyeroll::

  • As long as you feel comfortable with the selection of items on your registry, I wouldn't worry too much about the number.  As pp suggested, refer to some sort of checklist to make sure you aren't missing anything major.  Then, make sure you have a good mix of price ranges for folks who want to spend more or less.  After that, I wouldn't get it much more thought.

  • I have about 95 I think? Although I did add some little 'filler' items that are smaller toys for people with tight budgets or who just want a sense of my style (obviously not necessities).

My mom has been told by shower guests before (wedding registry) that I needed to add more stuff. We decided we'd rather be told to add more (and maybe do so then if people seem to want more of a selection) than risk people thinking we're registering for way too much. Plus, I'd rather focus on what we need first. I don't anticipate receiving that much from the registry anyways. You can always add more later on if really necessary...

  • We had a small shower and have a small condo and really don't want a bunch of stuff we don't need.  We registered for about 40 items total and that was more than plenty for the shower.  I wouldn't add stuff for the sake of adding it.  Some people will buy their favorite baby items that aren't on your registry, some will buy clothes and toys that aren't on your registry, some will hand-make things, and some will buy things from your registry.  If they don't fall into one of those camps, they can still get you a gift card if they want, which will be handy for all the diapers and so forth you need down the road and much more useful than extra stuff you added just for the sake of adding it.

  • I also registered at BRU and Amazon.  Most of my items are primarily at BRU and I have about 50 items; my universal Amazon registry only contains about 25 items.  It was a stretch for me to find 75 items, but I tried adding a bunch of small "would be nice" items to meet all price points.  I even registered for stuff like wipes, toys, books, baby medication kit, that I normally don't see on most registries.

  • I registered at Target since all of the people I have invited to my shower have a Target store near them (I wanted to keep it simple).  I think I have 84 items and made sure to include items at every price point. I have a few big ticket items like a glider (not more than $150) and the car seat that we want (since most of the people coming to the shower are family).  The rest of the items are necessities--wipes, diapers, baby toiletries, etc.; a few fun things like a play mat and a swing, and some toy/clothing items since everyone wants to get people those.

  • I think I had about 90 items, and all except 10 or so got purchased!  I didn't go by # of items, rather I just registered for everything I thought I would want or need.  I didn't do any feeding supplies beyond bottles (no toddler stuff), highchair, or anything the baby wouldn't use for six months.

I also didn't register for anything I didn't intend to buy myself if I didn't get it as a gift.

  • DH & I just registered yesterday.  I have a total of 50 items on my registry.  but I have to add a few more things.

    Edited for spelling!

  • I think that if you have several options in different price categories that is probably a good number (unless you have an unusually large family).
