We had our anatomy scan the other day at 19wks & 2days. The scan revealed there there were a few cysts on our little girl's brain. My widwife said that it was common and that they usually disappear on their own. Just as a precaution we're following up with a Fetal & Maternal group for a more detail ultrasound (I'm just excited that I get to see her again!). But, everyone I've told about the cysts seem very surprised and it gave me the impression they weren't all that common? Our midwife didn't seem concerned for the time being (I guess unless the other ultrasound shows something).
The ultrasound also reveled that her umbilical cord may not be entering the placenta properly (they said they couldn't get a good angle because her butt was in the way!) Does/has anyone have/had this problem?
I'm probably just being over-paranoid but when you're a first time mommy-to-be, it's kind of hard not to be ![]()
Re: anatomy scan revealed cysts on the baby's brain, how common?
Thank you all so much! Hearing all of this has definately eased my mind that she will in fact, be just fine. Now it's just a waiting game until our next US.
And goodluck to anyone else who is or may deal with this
Your little girl is so cute it hurts!!
