I feel like I'm in a sitcom

So I finally got a noticeable "umm you look pregnant" bump this week. It went from nothing to hard bump literally in the middle of the day earlier this week. Stood up from my desk at work, looked down, and my eyes did a double take.

It's been fairly easy to hide this week with long drapey shirts, but it was hot yesterday, so I'm only wearing a cardigan and shell today and it's definitely noticeable right over my pants.

So now everytime I get up to get water or go to the bathroom I have something in my hand, over the area. A file, my lunch, a cup, I'm tempted to carry around a house plant for a while.

Re: I feel like I'm in a sitcom

  • Almost to the halfway point and still not telling everyone at work?  Wow.  I just don't have that kind of self control LOL  I'm such a blabbermouth.  When do you plan on telling, or are you just going to let your belly tell the story?

  • Ha ha this is how it happened to me too, only earlier! My belly sort of popped out around 13 weeks, luckily it was right after I went public so I didn't have to hide anything. How long are you planning to hide it at work? Sounds like you won't be hiding it much longer!

  • Yes

I want pictures!  It's pretty exciting, hm?

  • Like on Sex and the City when SJP was pregnant in real life and she was always in something flowy or holding a purse, umbrella, or newspaper :)

This cracked me up!  LOL.  I think they might suspect something if you did that, but I would pay to see the reactions of your co-workers. Yes  I hope you can come out with the big news soon!

  • I seriously don't want to tell them at all and I feel awkward even thinking of how I'll bring it up. I have a feeling I won't be able to hide it forever, but I'd like to! The boss and Senior Associate know, so it's just my 5 coworkers. I'm thinking of just calendaring my anatomy scan instead of writing "doctor appointment" like I usually do. Then see how long it takes the secretary to calendar something for me. Otherwise just telling then right before I actually leave for the scan, but that's not till May 9.
  • My anatomy scan is May 10 and I'm holding out to tell my co-workers until them.  I may tell my boss earlier.  After loosing one baby at 18 weeks, I'd rather hold off on the questions until I'm ready and I know this baby is healthy.  I have 2 coworkers who like to ask "how are you feeling?" and "do you feel movement?" way too often - I don't want to deal with that just yet.

Guess it's time to buy more loose sweaters!

Think they would know what "anatomy scan" means?  Maybe just put sonogram?  Haha  You probably don't even have to bring it up...just put down the house plant Wink  I agree, it does sound like something from a sitcom!

In my office we read medical records all day long. We deal with a lot of bad baby cases in the area (yesterday heard about a 23 year who died during an emergency c-section). One of my coworkers is an L&D nurse. I'm pretty sure they know what an anatomy scan is in my office Stick out tongue
  • Okay, that is too funny!

My bff said that her pants all worked with a bella band up until she woke up one day and literally nothing fit anymore. She said it was just funny that it quite literally happened overnight. I love the house plant idea!
