1st Trimester

Actual Due Date

I went to the doctor for my first prenatal visit.  He said last week I was about 7 weeks.  That is figuring by the first day of my last period (feb. 26)  However, I know within a couple of days the actual date of conception, simply because my husband was doing semen analysis' since we'd had trouble getting pregnant.  His sperm count came back very low, so when my ovulation time came around, we weren't too interested in trying so hard due to the fact that we know his semen count is very low.  You have to be absinent for 2-9 days I think is what the doctor said between analysis'.  We had intercourse 1 day during my ovulation time frame, so that his analysis' wouldn't be messedup, I am pretty sure it was the 13th or 14th or March.  Wouldn't going by the actual date of conception-if you know it-be more accurate?

Re: Actual Due Date

  • Due dates are all estimated anyways do if it's off by a couple of days then it's not a big deal.  My DD was due May 30th but wasn't born until June 4th.  I know we all focus on that EDD like it's gold but really, the baby will come when he/she is ready or is evicted through induction or c-section.

  •  Your LMP date works best if you have a 28day cycle. If you don't then your date will be off. Once you have your first u/s the Dr. will date you.

  • Don't worry. That will all change once you get an u/s and the baby is measured. Mine's already been moved up, b/c my baby measured big.

  • Due dates are ALWAYS estimates no matter what you go by. You wont know what day the baby is coming until it is actualy coming. Dont stress over it, your doctor knows best. You will probably have an ultrasound soon to confirm an EDD anyways.
  • Your due can be based of either your LMP (last menstrual period) or your date of conception. If you know your date of conception, add two weeks to it since you are already two weeks pregnant at that point. When I calculated my due date from my LMP and conception date there was a difference of 2 days but doc went with the date from my LMP. At my u/s at 8 weeks my date got changed so all in all, it didn't really matter. Like pp's said, it will change when you get a little further along.
