Two Under 2

Poll: What do you consider a BIG family?

DH and I want 4 or 5 kids. People think we're nuts so I tend just to say, "we want more" just not the number. I know things can change down the road, but thats what we would like.

DH and I realized that no one in our families have more than 3 kids...mainly 2 in our extended families. I know my immediate family will judge us and think we are nuts for wanting them relatively close....Just curious what you all think is a BIG family?

Re: Poll: What do you consider a BIG family?

  • I am one of five kids, and I remember getting lots of comments growing up about my "big" family. Mostly just from people surprised by how many of us there are :) I loved it though - there was always someone to play with and never a dull moment!

  • In our social circle 3 is not uncommon but 4 is - hence I consider 4 kids out of the ordinary and "big"
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

    This.

Around here, 3 is the "new 2"........

  • We want 4 or 5 as well, although I am on a pregnancy break for a bit. We just smile and nod when people ask, or mention how "nice it is to get them all 'done' so close"
  • I am the oldest of 4 kids. My mom had us all in a little under 6 years so we're also very close in age. It was fun growing up and is even more fun now that we're adults. I consider 1 kid a small family, 2 or 3 an average sized family and 4 or more a large family.

  • In my experience, 4 is "big" and 5 is unheard of. People can not wrap their minds around 5 or more these days. To each their own :)

  • I voted 5 or more, but that's probably because I grew up as the oldest of five children.

  • I think you get into big territory when you have the fourth. Three is probably what's normally considered big these days but I think it's still fairly common for people to have three. Four or more is more of a rarity.

  • I am the 4th out of 5. And I love it......always someone to talk to and play with.

I have an aunt on my mothers side that has 15 children. Now that is CRAZY!!!

  • I am one of 7 and it never felt like a big family until I would go to friends houses and they would be only children. I love having a big family.
