Hypnobabies and hypnobirthing mamas

What positions did you find to be the most comfortable when listening to the tracks? I am on my second lesson of the hypnobabies course and have been having trouble getting comfortable. I can't breathe deeply through my nose when laying on my side and can't lay on my back even supported by a couple pillow. Any suggestions?

  • I use my side in bed but maybe a recliner would be good for you?

  • i usually lay down in bed but i also use it sitting up on our love seat w/my feet propped up on an ottoman.  so i'd try something like that or maybe a recliner? or laying on the couch/bed propped up really well?

i read somewhere that it was good to listen in different settings so you'd get used to being able to relax anywhere.

  • I did hypnobirthing and I actually practiced on a birthing ball a lot of the time.  I felt that since I was going to use the ball while in labor I should learn how to incorporate in it hypnobirthing.  I also practiced on my side a lot.

  • I've been practicing on my side up until yesterday when laying on my side has become less comfortable.  Now I'm thinking that I may try sitting propped up with about 4 pillows against my headboard (the position I also may need to start sleeping in as well).  Le sigh...
  • I usually prop myself up at a 45 degree angle in bed with another pillow under my knees.  Make sure you have lots of lower back and neck support.  I use ear buds so I don't like lying on my side.  I've also done the couch, or the glider with ottoman.  I try to sit up so I'm not in a sleepy position (though I totally go under anyway, no matter what position I'm in).

  • Laying on my left side with a body pillow seems to be the most comfy for me, but sitting on the couch is good.  The only problem I find with sitting is that by the end of the CD one of my limbs has usually gone to sleep.  The idea someone had of listening to the CD in different settings was a really good idea, so I'd try that too!

  • With DD, I spent the last 4 months sleeping propped up with large couch pillows so I listened on my back. I could NOT breathe on my side when I was lying down.
  • I usually do this at night in my bed on my side. Although, I have practiced a few times in a "nest" of pillows. I was propped up enough to allow circulation and not be flat on my back, but still felt nestled in. Also, I did the birth ball while resting my head/shoulders on a pillow on my bed... but pretty much I have to stay in bed because I ALWAYS fall asleep.
