nap mats

DD will need a nap mat starting this summer at MDO. Where did you get yours? Any tips on what to look for? I checked out Etsy and the prices are all over the place. I definitely want one that rolls up into itself and want it to be comfortable, of course. I hate to buy something like this online so if there are places locally where I can find some, that would be great. Thanks!

Re: nap mats

  • It depends if you need to buy the mat yourself or just the cover?

I got my cover from this Etsy seller and it's great. I love that it comes with an attached pillow since I had a hard time finding a pre-k sized pillow.

  • I don't have a mat that rolls up but what I did was bought one of the thick mats from Wal-mart (they have 2 different sizes in thickness) and then I went to a fabric store and made my own cover.  I am NOT creative and I am NOT a seamstress but my cover has held up through 2 years of use already!  I just sewed it the way I thought a pillow case would be sewn then I added velcro to the opening.  Probably spent less than $10 total.

  • I got Wildkins nap mats.  $30 is a good price for them.  I would just search online to see who has the best prices.

  • We got ours at napmat.com and then got a cover, matching blanket and pillowcase with a pillow at SewLovable.com.

The cover, blanket and pillowcase come with your child's name embroidered on it which is usually required at daycares and MDO programs and such. Everything you send to school will have to be labeled and these are SO cute. And the prices can't be beat.

  • I got a plastic nap mat for Marion at Learning something or other.  Lakeshore Learning maybe?  Anyway, her MDO requires that it be plastic so it can be wiped down every day.  Then I just send a crib sheet for a cover and they return that once a week and I wash it at home.  So check and see what your school's requirement is for them.
  • Nap Mats, Etc. is local and they deliver SUPER fast.  I was shocked when we ordered it and it showed up on my mom's doorstep LITERALLY two days later.  They monogram in-house, they're super soft and comfy, and come with an attached pillow/pillowcase.  I love hers.

  • We have an LSU one that was a gift. It has the mat, pillow, and blanket all in one and rolls up. It washes well, and Dylan loves it. It's great but I don't know the brand. My aunt said she saw some that were same brand at Sam Moon though for a lot cheaper than she paid for Dylan's.
