I think my favorite vacation was my honeymoon, where we went to some of the Greek islands. Not because of the honeymoon aspect really, but because of the food! Real Greek food is sooooo good. French fries in my gyro? Yes please!
Describe your perfect meal. Would it be breakfast, lunch or dinner? What (and where) would you eat?
It would be dinner. A cobb salad with some added freshly grilled veggies like zucchini and asparagus and a balsamic vinaigrette. Then, pasta of some kind...it's really hard to choose. I think maybe the homemade spinach/cheese ravioli from this little Italian place near my house. For dessert, tiramisu or a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream. Damn, it's really hard to choose!
Depending on the weather, I would either eat this at a picnic table in a park on a warm evening, or curled up in a blanket on my couch on a cold evening.
If you could plan a dream vacation for your family (where money is no consideration), where would you go and for how long? Why?
I would love to go to Argentina and Chile (and DH is happy to go anywhere!). A former coworker actually moved her family there for 9+ months, had her kids enrolled in Argentinian school and fully immersed in the culture.
While I don't think I'd want to go for that long (maybe 1 month?), I would love to stay long enough to get some real language immersion for me and to expose DS to another language/culture. I would love to improve my conversational Spanish (it's been many years since I've practiced!). And of course stay long enough to find my way to lots of the local wineries.
What's your favorite part of living in the bay area?
It's probably the proximity to so many different things. Where I live the temperature/weather is pretty moderate, but if we want warmth, we can head inland, and if we want snow, we can head to Tahoe. The beach is close, the mountains are everywhere around us.
And of course, the diversity of the FOOD. This seems to be the theme of my day already!
Bah, this is a hard one for me. I have been struggling with this for the past few years. I love being an editor, it suits me in a lot of ways, but I also miss doing more creative things. I toy with the ideas of doing things like web design, jewelry design, or even getting back into photography.
I want to do what I'm passionate about, but my problem is that I'm having a tough time defining what my passion is. I hope to be able to try to figure this out in a few years when DH is done getting his PhD!
If your DS was going to be a girl, what would his name have been? Was it an easy choice (picking names), or a tough one?
We never finalized a girl name because we found out we were having a boy. But one name I know we both liked was Erin, so we probably would have gone with that (and likely will, if we ever have a girl).
Picking a name was hard for us. DH wanted to use a family name, I wanted to use 18 letters as a nod to my family heritage. So we had to find the right combination of names, sounds, and number of letters.
