Where do you buy it, and how much are you paying?
I was prescribed it 2 weeks ago, and went to the doctor again yesterday-my levels were around 7, and they're supposed to be somewhere between 30-50 at this point I believe (but we saw a hb 2 weeks ago, and again yesterday and the growth is right on track, so all is currently well!). So I'm staying on it, my doctor says probably for the length of my pg.
When I filled my prescription 2 weeks ago at my small neighborhood pharm, it was $66 to fill it. Seems high to me, but I thought I would ask here and see if anyone else had filled it somewhere else for less.
At this rate, I'll spend over $500 on this med alone over the next 8 months...which is totally doable, not a probem...unless I can find it somewhere else for less. Just thought I would check here for recs....
Thanks!
Re: Ladies on Prometrium (or other Prog. supplements)
My doctor told me that around 10wks the baby takes over producing progesterone for himself, so as far as I know I will come off the supplement then. Maybe ask your doctor if he agrees with that, because if so you might not need to be on it for your entire pregnancy.
But to answer your question I get oral Prometrium from Rite Aid and with my insurance it's about $30.

I was put on Progesterone suppositories about a week ago. The doctor neglected to tell me how difficult it would be to fill the prescription. I ended up having to go to a small mom and pop pharmacy that doesn't take insurance!!! I paid $70 for a 14 day supply and I just fould out that I'll be on it for at least another 6 weeks. My initial levels were 12.5 and it dropped down to 7.9. Hope this helps.
Also, prior to my pregnancy I was taking prometrium to get a period. My insurance paid for most of it. I paid $10 for a 10-day supply.

I've been taking oral Prometrium twice a day since I started IF treatments. My RE said to stay on them until after my 1st tri and my OB also agrees.
I go to Target Pharmacy and it costs about $30 for a month supply with my insurance. I used to use the suppositories and those were about $60-70 per month. I didn't like the mess so my RE switched to the oral version and my levels have been fine.
I'd check with your OB, I'm not sure it's necessary to take it for your entire pregnancy so you may be able to save some money...I'd also call around to other pharmacies. We were paying for our fertility medications OOP and I was amazed at how much the prices flucuate from pharmacy to pharmacy!

We don't have Rite Aid here, but we do have Target-I'll call them. Thanks!
I fully expected to not have to take this after the first tri. But when my dr saw how low my levels were, and knowing that have PCOS and have been on progesterone (to start periods) for the last several months, he said it would probably be the whole pregnancy. We'll do another draw in a few weeks, and double check my levels then. Hopefully that will change things.
Thanks for the information....if I can get it for $30ish that would cut the bill in half....I appreciate it!
I also take it twice a day. I buy it from Target. With my insurance I pay 35 dollars for 60.
I will be stopping mine at 13 weeks - and my levels were insanely low like yours, too. I was also taking mine just with my normal cycle, not just with the pregnancy. My dr. had me tested on day 21 of my cycle, knowing that I ovulated on day 14, that particular cycle. My level should have been 23 and I was at 7. It will never be known whether that's what caused my m/c with my previous pregnancy, but it sure didn't help.
I am taking 200mg twice a day and originally was on 200mg once a day (when still TTC). For 14 pills, it was $40 with my insurance but for 60 pills it went up to $44. Yikes, 4 whole dollars? Are you kidding me? How will I ever pay that difference? (dripping sarcasm noted, please.)
Yeah...it seems it's best to get the 'scrip written for as much as possible. So get your doc to work with you on that.
I am on 200mg twice a day.
I love my insurance - 60 pills were $9.99
