Embarrassingly, it's been far too long since I've been tent camping, and I've never been with my own child, let alone a few families with children.
So the plan is to share in the major meals, Breakfast & Dinner.
Obviously there will be some mean grilling going on, but I'm struggling to meal plan.
Do you have any Go-To Camping meals you mind sharing?
Re: Share your Camping Meals
I forgot about Batter Blasters! Thanks, that adds some bulk to what was a whimpy breakfast plan.
I bake potatoes before hand and wrap them in foil. If you place in them in the fire, they heat real nice. I put a bit of butter w/ salt and pepper in a small container - and then it is all in one scoop. No extras to bring.
Also, we do chicken, hamburgers or even steak. Other than that, sandwiches, crackers, raw vegies.... and lots of beer of course!
Oooo, and don't forget the smores! Isn't camping healthy????!!!!???
I usually make a pot of chili and freeze it in ziplocks. It defrosts in the ice chest and then it's really easy to heat up on the camp stove. We've also done a burrito bar. I cooked the meat before and stored it in a ziplock then just heated up beans and added cheese, sour cream, etc. We've done a baked potato bar the same way. The potatoes are a little harder to cook though. Obviously lots of grilling too!
I also usually make a big batch of pasta salad (without mayo or anything else that spoils) with fresh green beans, salami, tomatoes, etc. We much on that for lunches. Umm...breakfasts we usually do a big meal for one morning and then muffins, cereal, juice etc. for the other days. Batter blasters are awesome! They also have that ready to pour Bisquick mix now that you just add water.
I usually do a giant pot of spaghetti the night before we leave. I have also done chili, and that's easy too. For breakfast, we like to make sausage mcmuffins. I buy the Jimmy Dean precooked sausage patties so all they really need is a few minutes in a hot pan. Those with some fresh fruit are always a hit. For lunch I like to just bring some cold cuts and sandwich fixings. We are usually away from camp during lunch time so I pick things that will travel in a backpack easily.
Don't forget to bring stuff for s'mores!
