WWYD - somewhat baby related

Yesterday I was driving home from work and was next to a car w/ a baby seat in the back seat turned sideways w/ a baby in it.  So I know it was not secured properly.  WWYD?  Who would you call if you call the police and it is outside of City of Cinti (crimestoppers)?  911...I would hate to call this if it isn't a real emergency.

This has just been on my mind today.

  • I would call 911.  In my mind, that is an emergency.  What if they get in an accident?  That poor baby doesn't stand a chance.

  • I dont know...this is awkard but depending on what road I was driving on I might honk my horn and try and tell the person "Hey, I think you forgot to latch your car seat in" Was it buckled in at all? Could it have possibly been a huge mistake where the person maybe sat the car seat in the backseat, loaded groceries and just got in the car and drove off forgetting that they didnt properly buckle the seat in? Or did it seem like they just didnt know how the car seat should have been buckled in?

OR I would just call 911 but then again (and I might get flamed for this) I call 911 about people driving erratically and unsafely so an infant who is in essence just sitting in the backseat of a car to me warrants huge concern.

  • If you are going to call I would call the non-emergency #. In Vegas it was 311. Not sure if there is something similar here.

  • I just did some searching and discovered that Crime Stoppers (352-3040) is for greater Cincy and NKY.  I saved that to my contacts and the next time I see something sketchy I'll call it.
  • I would definitely call crime stoppers or I would have even called 911 to report it and would have just apologized for not knowing the non-emergency #.  I have also called our local police dept when I see people swerving all over the road or driving erratically.  I am one of those people.

I HATE seeing people text and drive and can't wait til that becomes a law so I can tattle on them too.  Nothing is that important that you can't wait to send a text when you get home, instead of putting my life or the lives of others on the line.

    Dayton ladies, our non-emergency # is 333-COPS (333-2677).  :)

  • I wouldn't call 911, call local police department. I have a friend who use to work for 911, and they get so many non-emergent calls that some people who truely are in a life threatening situation cannot get through on the first call.  I would get license plate number and turn them in.  Don't approach anyone, it is just not safe- too many crazies!
