How long did it take you to conceive?

Just curious.  :)  DH & I are going to be starting next month.   Originally our plan was to not TTC or TTP and just see what happened, but I am worried that it will take forever to actually get pregnant if we don't specifically try to have sex during ovulation.   Anyway, how long did it take you to get a BFP?

  • The first time a year. With this second one, the first time (although I was paying attention to ovulation).

  • with DD we just decided to stop preventing. first month.

    #2, same thing, but I m/c at 15 weeks

#3, 4 months of actively trying including charting and OPKs.

  • With DD it took 11 cycles (11 months).  We just pulled the goalie and went with it.  This pregnancy was not planned.  I was on BC and it failed.

  • After 5 months of timed intercourse, we found out (thanks to my very pro-active OB) that DH had severe MFI (male factor infertility- low count, motility and morphology) and the chances of us conceiving on our own was about .02% each month.

Hoping things are quick for you, but don't be afraid to ask initial/non-invasive testing if it isn't.  I would hate to think how much time we would have "wasted" if we waited the traditional 1 year of trying before getting any testing done.

  • 2.5 years plus 4 m/c in that time before being successful with DS.
  • 4 months of timed trying.  We're going to start trying again in September and I'm hoping that it won't take as long the second time around.

  • We were very blessed. Our first we tried avoiding getting pregnant the first month off BC and got pregnant right away. Now with number 2 it was the 2nd month after deciding to get pregnant. Other friends it's been 1-2 months as well and a couple friends it's taken a year. Good luck!

  • We decided to stop preventing & got pregnant the very first cycle. I didn't do any charting/temping etc. Good luck!
  • 14 long months. The last 4 were opk's and charting and meeting with OB to start testing. We are planning TTC #2 this summer. Hopefully it won't take long.

  • I went off BC and used back up for two months to try and get regular. I got pregnant the first month not using backup.

  • We got lucky and it was our first cycle. It was mainly the intercourse e/o day method. I did start temping and charting mid cycle which helped a little.

  • DD is a honeymoon baby and DS was conceived 2 months after we quit using a condom.
  • Well, I went off the pill in December with DD.... but we were pretty much in the middle of moving to MN and barely saw eachother. Once we were together again, it happened fast.

With this one... two months after I stopped BFing....

  • It took 10 mos with #1 and 16 mos with #2. However, I was also diagnosed with PCOS, which complicates things.

I know how hard it is to actually do this, but really, try to just have fun and not overthink the process. ;)

  • The second month, but I wasn't paying attention to ovulation or anything.

  • First month off of birth control without any charting or anything.  I really couldn't believe that I was pregnant since we weren't trying to conceive just not preventing and I was 34.  We were certainly lucky.

Same as PP. Been on birth control for more than 10 years; 33 years old-got off pill on April 21, 2010 - found out I was pregnant 5/31- conceived May 5...less than two weeks. I think it all depends....I feel fortunate. I didn't think it would happen for at least 6 months...b/c people say that when you've been on the pill forever....

I have several other girlfriends not as lucky-some have been trying for more than a year...:(
