TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Hysteroscopy on Monday

I just got this scheduled for Monday.  They had one other date in May, but I figured I may as well get it over with now.  I have been reading about this procedure, and it sounds like a lot of doctors do them in office with no sedation.  Well, my doc is doing mine in a hospital under full anesthesia.  I don't really understand why it has to be made into such an ordeal when he doesn't suspect he will find anything since my hsg was normal.  Oh well.  At least I'll get a good nap out of it and a day off work.  Have you guys had this done?  What was your experience, and how was it?

Re: Hysteroscopy on Monday

  • I've never had one, but I do love me some anesthesia. Enjoy your nap and the ensuing narcotics. :-)

Are you getting a general because if they find something they'll segue right into a lap? I hope everything comes back clean and beautiful!

    All of this.

    Lots of luck hon.

  • Good luck on monday. I have had two, the first was very painful, the second didn't hurt at all. I think it really depends on the dr doing the procedure. My dr doesn't do it so I was sent somewhere else for it. I took advil before the second one and that seemed to help.

  • Good luck, hon!

I see the anesthesia thing this way:

    1. Getting buzzed on insurance's dime? Score!

    2. At least you know it won't hurt

    3. This way if they find anything, hopefully they can just remove it and that won't hurt either!

  • Can't help as far as advice or recs, but I so hope this is quick and easy and painless for you.

  • Good luck! I hope it's painless, but that you get some good pain pills anyway.
