Yup, I agree with the pp. They should feel like a tightening of your abdomen, but they can be slightly painful or uncomfortable- it's different for different women. If they're very painful or you're having more than 6 in an hour, you should call your OB.
like the pp said I have been told they feel like tightening of the ab muscles. I usually feel a baby buldge in one section of my belly and then it tightens up for about 10 seconds. I probably happens 2/3 times per day and more so when I am lying down on my back.

Same exact experience for me.

Mine are just like pps said, but I have also noticed my belly feels a little bit "heavy" when I am having them. Mine also last for more than 10 second, but they have with all 3 of my pregnancies.

If you are having period type cramps call your dr. Braxton hicks shouldn't be painful, maybe uncomfortable. They are more of a tightening and your stomach will get rock hard for a few seconds. If you have more than 6 in an hour call your dr. I had them like crazy last time.

My BH (I have been having off and on a while now) are not painful at all. In fact it just feels like a rolling/tightening sensation. If you are having pain then maybe you better contact your OB just to be on the safe side... If you have more than 4/hour then you should also call. I had 6 in a 30 min time frame the other day and had to go in for some meds to calm my uterus down.

Re: Braxton Hicks
Definitely shouldn't feel super painful. Braxton hicks can feel super tight and at times uncomfortable.
You may get unrelated menstrual-like cramping from uterine stretching/growing, but it shouldn't be making you stop in your tracks.
