is anyone else having this problem?

my shower is this weekend and, as much as I hate to admit it, I've been doing a little registry stalking this week. our main registry is at BRU and I've heard some horror stories about things not coming off the registry as people purchase them, resulting in a lot of duplicates. I checked mine and there are only a handful of things checked off and the shower is in 2 days! This means either no one is coming to my shower or BRU has not updated the registry properly. Has anyone else had this issue?

    good to know - a friend of mine had her shower in February and ended up returning over $400 in duplicates because it didn't come off the registry when it was purchased. two pieces of furniture that my parents bought for us didn't come off either so I was a little concerned. hopefully all will turn out well! Smile

    I am a procrastinator. I don't usually buy gifts for a shower I'm attending until the night before.

    Lots of people don't use registries.  Relax, I'm sure you'll have lots of friends celebrating with you!

    A lot of people don't even buy things that are on someone's registry. Don't worry too much if you don't get everything you registered for. Some people just buy stuff they think the mom-to-be will like or need. I'm sure you will still have a good turnout at your shower.

    I'm going to a bridal shower soon and I did purchase off the registry I printed out at home.  I noticed when I looked on the registry at the store they had added something I would have liked to have included so bought that too.  Well, at the register they couldn't get it to come off.  Told me I could go to the courtesy desk (Target) to do it but I was pressed for time.  Not a big deal if they get dups since they only registered for 4 and they really needed 8 (soup bowls).  lol 

    It could be that the stores are just not updated or the people are not giving them the list so they can scan it (or what happened to me happened to them). 

    Like the other pps said...many people wait until very last minute to buy and some do not buy off the registry.  They may see what is on there and buy it elsewhere for less.

    I wouldn't worry about it just yet, as PP said, people tend to procrastinate and others completely forget to have the registry scanned when they purchase their gifts. 
    It is also possible they purchased the same item for a different store.
     
    Duplicates are easy to return to BRU as long as they are on your registry.

    those of you that said a lot of people don't buy off the registry - you were right! I hardly got anything from there, most people just bought clothes. and clothes. and clothes! I am very grateful for all the gifts we got, but WOW there were a lot of clothes. I purposely didn't register for any thinking people would buy them on their own since no one can resist (including me!) cute little baby clothes. but we got so many there is no way he will be able to wear everything! Luckily for me I have two good friends who are due in a few months after me so hopefully at least one of them will be having a boy and I can share with them!

    Unfortunately, part of my fear was right - there were quite a few people, including family members, that didn't call and didn't show up. and a couple more that told me the night before and the morning of that they weren't coming :( 

     I'm glad I got to celebrate with my close friends and family though. when all was said and done, it turned out to be a great day!
