Pediatrician in Alexandria - Rec?

Ladies,

My aplogies if this question has been posted previously (as I am sure that it has)... but, when I search the forum... I do not get any results. So, here I am... tossing out a question that has probably been asked and answered over and over.. therefore, I apologize :)

Does anyone feel comfortable recommending a pediatrician in the Alexandria area? I remember reading positive comments about Pediatric Associates of Alexandria... but, recently stumbled across mom's mentioning the practice is growing and becoming very large and the wait times for your appointment can be lengthy.

Is anyone else experiencing this PAofA? And/or recommend a pediatric practice in the Alexandria area?

 Thank you!

  • I know several of us on here go to Children's Medical Associates! We love them and have always gotten great care with hardly ever a wait.

  • I'm a mom of a 3 week old so I'm probably not the best person to offer recommendations yet, but I went with Children's Medical Associates in Alexandria on the recommendation of several people on this board and so far I'm very happy. Since I've had my daughter I've met with the lactation consultant, a nurse practitioner and a couple of the pediatricians and they've all been absolutely wonderful. I never feel rushed in the appointments and the office staff is really friendly. They also got us in on a Saturday, a few days after we left the hospital, for a quick follow up. The nurses on the advice line are also patient and very knowledgeable. Anyway, that's been my experience so far.

I did go to the little meet and greet with Pediatric Associates when I was pregnant and I wasn't too impressed. But I can't offer anything other than my first impression.

    Another positive for CMA.

I love that they have hours 7 days a week if needed.

  • I take my two boys to Pediatrics of Alexandria and have been happy with them.  I have only experienced one time where we had a rather long wait, but for the most part, I've only waited about 15 minutes or so for an appt.  I like that they have open hours starting from 6am to 6:30am so that I can take them in for a check-up if they're sick before work if necessary without having to make an appt.  They do have late hours and Saturday hours, but I know with my insurance, those are not covered fully since they consider them "after hours" appts.  Which is fine if I am really pressed, but I try to make appts during normal hours if I can.  I like all of the doctors there, and there's really only 1 physician's assistant there that I am not crazy about, but he's not terrible -- just a personality thing.

  • We've been really happy with CMA as well. I had the same experience as Rome Romance. They were great with helping me resolve any BF issues initially.

Our waits have never been very long either.

  • I can pinpoint the wait at Ped. Assoc. of Alexandria to one nurse practitioner there.  If you get an appt. with her, she is always, ALWAYS running behind - and not just a little bit - like an hour.

If you end up exploring that practice, PM me and I'll tell you which lady to avoid and I can almost guarantee you your average wait will be 10-15 minutes.

  • Thank you, ladies! I appreciate you sharing your experiences with your practices :)
