Things you do with your babies...

They will always be babies (I now completely understand this statement).  Anyways, what are some things you like to do/did with your children at different milestones.  And what are some things you are looking forward to do with them as they grow.

1. 6-9months

2. 9-12months

3. 12-18 months

4. 18-24 months

5. 2-3year olds

6. 3+

  • 1. 6-9months: Take them out to experience the world. Boring to us = fascinating to a baby. Target, the mall, the grocery store. The park when the weather is nice. Zoo- no, they don't look at the animals but just being around different sights and sounds is a good thing. This is also a good time to take in quiet places like the MFA, where a baby is content to ride in a carrier or stroller.

    2. 9-12months: Same kinds of things. Lots of walks and bike rides (we have a trailer). Gymboree is fun at this age.

    3. 12-18 months: Now they are walking well, so the park becomes even more fun. Indoor play areas like Wonderwild. Water play in the back yard.

    4. 18-24 months: My kids love live music- Discovery Green or neighborhood festivals. They are usually down to one nap, so morning road trips to places like Froberg Farms are fun. Music class is a lot of fun now as well. Parks with a sandbox are a big favorite. And learning to swim.

    5. 2-3year olds: First movie may be appropriate at this age. We'll take the boys to see Cars 2 this summer. It will be Mathis's 1st movie and he is going to be just over 2.

    6. 3+: At 4, Tru still enjoys all the same things we have always done. Parks, festivals, just being out and about. Water, playing with the hose or sprinkler. The only thing that really sets this age apart is a deeper understanding of things like the dinosaurs at the museum. The thing is at this age the kids have very defined interests, so what you do will depend on the child to some extent. We were at the zoo all day today and both kids loved it. I can see us being members there for several more years.
