How long did it take you to fit back into your pre pregnancy stuff? Lot of the girls on my month board are already saying they fit back in their stuff! It's making me sad because I'm so NOT there yet. I'm itching to get the all clear from my doctor to start exercising.
My tummy is really getting smaller but my thighs are still pretty big and my hips are wider....they do go back a bit right? I am still in maternity clothing and really want to pull my old stuff back out!!
Re: How Long...
I'm not back in hardly any of my old stuff and my son is a year. I weigh less than when I got pregnant but nothing has gone back to normal.
It really bums me. I ended up buying some new stuff. Most of it is the same size I was pre-preg, but just different styles. Especially pants. No more low rise pants.
I hope I'm not bumming you out! A lot of people say, 9 months up and 9 months down.
Don't be too hard on yourself. It took nine months for you to put that weight on, it is not going to come off in only one. Everyone is different. There are different factors that can go into weight loss. Breastfeeding, amount of water weight, diet, etc...no two people are the same. So try not to compare yourself. I know it is hard.
I was back into my pre pregnancy clothes a few weeks after delivery. They were snug, but they fit. By 2 months they fit comfortably. They never fit exactly the same though. Pregnancy changes your body in funny ways.
I hesitate to post, but I was into most of my pre-preg stuff within a week. I just want to say though, I have always had an extremely high metabolism and I've always been fairly tiny. I only put on 30lbs and lost 20 of it from the delivery. So I really only had 10lbs to lose on my own.
Regarding your thighs & hips, yes they will go back down, maybe not back to the way you were, but they will go back down some at least.
Hang in there Tarah, I promise you will start fitting into pre-preg stuff soon. It's only been 4 weeks, and whos to say those girls aren't fibbing a bit on your month board? Everyone is different and being healthy is most important.

I agree with this statement, I find the women on the national bump boards are a little nuts and even if they are telling the truth, there could be twice as many women who aren't fitting into pre-preg clothes who just aren't speaking up.
I wore maternity pants (well when I wore something other than yoga pants) for awhile, I think it took me about 2 months to put on an old pair of jeans. I might have been able to do it sooner, but I didn't want to try
But they do fit differently, I've lost all my weight but my stomach is not the same.
I am about 3 months out now and just fit into a majority of my pre-pregnancy stuff. Things don't fit exactly the same though......my body just hasn't quite gone back to how it was in many zones.
Don't be too hard on yourself. It takes time for everything to adjust.
My best advice is to buy a few non-pregnancy items now so that you start to feel more normal. Once you have them in your closet, it's almost a guarantee that a week later things will be too big but it helps your self image so much. I completely got rid of everything pregnancy from my wardrobe pretty much right away. My poor husband saw me in yoga pants and the same t-shirts for weeks after I delivered but by the time I was back at work (around the 9 week point), I looked significantly more like myself.
I was wearing maternity clothes up until I went back to work, almost 12 weeks later. I still have a belly pouch that I am working on getting rid of. Granted I gain over 50lbs while I was pregnant and only lost about 30 of in the first few weeks home.
You just had your little guy, give it time it will happen!
I lost the weight within a few months, I had a csection so I couldnt really excersice even once the dr gave me the ok because I was still in pain from my incision.
Even though I lost the amount of weight my clothes never fit the same. I swear having him shifted all of my bones. My thighs were a huge problem area also, I've always carried all my weight in my thighs and butt area. I finally gave up and bought new pants, same size just differnt fit if that makes sense.
Dont beat yourself up about those girls on your month board. I'm not calling them liars but really the internet can be a funny thing where they dont have to prove anything and could just be saying it to make themselves feel better.
Mommy's little helper
With my first pregnancy it took me like 6 months or so to get back into my pre pregnancy clothes, even though I had lost all the weight by 4 months.
The 2nd pregnancy, i gained half the amount of weight I did with my first. So I was able to fit in my pre pregnancy clothes at 3 weeks.
My thighs touched for the first time when I was pregnant, and I am hoping that goes away soon. I gained 33 lbs and lost 21 at the hospital, and lost the rest of the weight, but my thighs are still there, so my jeans are a little snug there and so are my work pants. I wasn't completely cleared until 2 weeks ago, so once I get back to work and my daily walks, I hope my thighs disappear, because it's hard to find the time to work out like I did before with LO.
Anyone want to recommend a good jean and dress pant brand that has more room in the thigh? I am a size 0-1 in the waist, but I think my thighs are a 2.
I just want to say that it took me almost 2 years to get back to my pre-pregnancy size, and by then my body was so different I needed new clothes anyway. It was NOT a priority for me, which I'm not saying was a good thing at all. (I was so unhealthy at the time, stressed, depressed, etc.)
This is such an emotional land-mine of a topic for so many women. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! So many factors...how big were you before you got pg? how much did you gain? how active/athletic were you before/during your pg? are you bf-ing? exclusively or part time or not at all? are you making healthy eating and exercise a priority now that LO is here? (I don't mean you specifically Tarah, just whoever is facing post-baby body!)
With this pregnancy, I was at a healthy weight beforehand, and am trying to stay active and keep weight gain in check (appropriate), so I plan to give myself three months to get down to my healthy, pre-baby weight. But, clothes-wise, I'm not promising myself anything. At six months post-partum, if I'm at my goal weight, I still understand that I might have to buy new clothes.
HTH!
I was lucky and was able to fit back into my regular jeans after a couple weeks - though they were snug in the butt and tummy. Now they are almost too tight since I am lazy and can't find the time to work out anymore.

Um, Libby will be 2 in July and I am still wearing a size bigger than I did pre-preg. However I was 2 sizes bigger so at least I am making progress:) I gained 55 pounds though and have always gained weight easily and had a hard time losing it. I also was not at all working on it for a long time- like pp said, too depressed, stressed, etc- I struggled with PPD.
Don't worry about it! You will be back in those clothes in no time.
