So I just got back from my 16ish week appointment and I picked up the Rx for my anatomy scan. After I left I looked at the Rx and it was for a Level 2. I've done the NT scan (1:400 chance for DS) and quad screen (1:1000 for DS/1:700 for nural tube defects) and both were fine.
I always thought, and possibly incorrectly, that the standard anatomy scan was level 1 and if there was a problem then a level 2 would be done. Since my previous screens were good and I haven't had an eventful pregnancy I would see no reason to go to a level 2.
Am I confused and the 20w scan is always level 2? Also, I scheduled my appt a couple of weeks ago. Should I call them back and tell them that it is level 2?
Re: Probably a dumb Q: Level 1 vs. 2 ultrasound.
I called just to be safe on the time and the level 1 is what is done in the 1st tri and the level 2 is the 20 week.
My anatomy scan is called a level 2 ultrasound by my doctors. Everyone I have told that I am getting one assume some thing must be wrong.. My quad came back good, and the doctors have never said anything. (also, my dr. told me I would have a level 2 at my first appointment, before even seeing the baby.) I am only 22, so it is not an age thing.
It is good to read pp's saying that it is just the same thing as the anatomy scan, because this is what I have assumed, but never asked,
"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
