Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Is the Ergo carrier worth the money?

We are going out of town and hate our double stroller so I thought if the ergo carrier is good, then we can just bring the single stroller and the carrier. Our almost 3 yo likes to walk a good part of the time so there would be some rest for our backs, but we are going to be doing a 5k along the way.

Opinions on the carrier?

Re: Is the Ergo carrier worth the money?

  • I used my Ergo very regularly until DD was 3 and then off and on until she was 4.  It was definitely worth the money.  Now I use it for DS all the time.

I have since also gotten a Boba which has a slightly higher weight limit which is good for my big kiddo (and I like having multiple carriers).

  • SIGH

I will NEVER know. DH won't let me get one and he won't let me flush my tampons.

    JERK.

  • So will the ergo still work for my almost 3, 26lb daughter too? I barely gave that a thought but I bet she'd love it on our backs.
  • I totally think so. We went on 4 trips out of state in the last 2 months and didn't bring the stroller for any of them (and didn't regret it). It's great for air travel but I use it at home as well. I use it to Grocery shopping or when I need to cook and DD is fussy (I pop her on my back when cooking ). She also naps in it on the go on a regular basis.

Yes, the weight limit is 40 lbs.

My DS (just turned ONE) yesterday is over 27 lbs. so I may not have as much time with him in it.

Hikerbeth- I may be hitting you up for some Boba tips.

What's up with it?  I feel it's essentially the same adjustment as my Ergo. . . even better actually because I have an older model Ergo and the chest strap really slips around.

I don't use the foot stirrups yet.

  • Interesting.  I haven't used it for a really long outing yet. . . I will be more aware of it to see if it works its way up.

Forces your boobs out?  Where are your boobs in relationship to the straps?  Mine say pretty locked between the shoulder straps on the sides and the chest strap from the top.

I have fairly broad shoulders and medium-large boobs.

Maybe it's a body shape thing?  Or maybe try fiddling with the adjustment under your arms. . . it's the only thing that's different from the Ergo, I think. . . the clip/adjustment in two places on each shoulder strap.
