So I lifted something that was much heavier than I should have. I've done this before, and I never learn.
Does anyone have an opinion or a conversation with a doctor to know when I'm in the clear from my own stupidity? I mean, nothing happened, baby still moving, everything is normal, but it still worries me.
Re: Lifted something very heavy
relax, i'm sure you're fine. especially if it was a one time deal. you lift your toddler, don't you? many of us still work out and lift weights too.
haha i lifted a case of paper today, and my boss yelled at me.
i do have a DD that weighs about 30lbs... it's really not that different. mind you i was complete winded when i sat back down at my desk. lol
I'm sure you're fine... no worries if the baby is still moving around in there.
Agree with previous posts. My DS is close to 30lbs and doc is ok with me holding him. Only recommended not carrying him downstairs, they were more concerned with balance then weight (so I don't topple down the stairs!)
This exactly! The baby is very well protected it there. It is a lot easier to hurt yourself this way than to hurt your baby.

So, yes, I do pick up my 30lb toddler without a tinge of worry, but this I am guilty of getting two Ikea monstrosities onto the loading cart before I knew that people there were allowed to help you. I had a mission. I would make my house looks awesome by the end of the day. Been there?
Anyway, thanks for the reasurrance. I feel a lot better about it now.
I read an article right in the beginning of my pregnancy that said that the reason the doc gives you a lifting restriction when you're PG is because you're much more likely to hurt yourself, because of loose joints and super-relaxed ligaments, tendons, and muscles... My doctor totally agreed.
Hope this eases your mind like it did mine.
They say you will hurt yourself far easier than you will ever hurt your baby from heavy lifting.
Your joints are all lax cause of a pregnancy hormone that helps your hips spread to make room. I'm sure all is fine. Don't do that again!!!
I lifted some heavy things last weekend, and monday i started bleeding. i was so scared that something had happened to the baby. I wouldn't push it if i were you. It's not worth it
TOTALLY been there! And I seriously have a love affair with Ikea. No worries. I've put some of their boxes onto my cart while pregnant too. Me and baby are fine. Just follow basic lifting protocol - lift with your legs, keep things close to your body so as to keep your center of gravity as close to normal as possible, etc. And if you can find a person to help, by all means ask if you like. The whole point of a store having employees is to help their customers
