  When I bought my daughters infant toothbrush, it came with orajel toothpaste, which is safe to swallow. Water is better than nothing, though.

  I just asked this question at the pedi this week. Previously we have been using just water (per their instructions) but they said now to use a childrens toothpate only at night so they flouride can sit on thier teeth overnight.

  Just water. We asked our dentist and he said that toothbrushing at this age is mostly about building a habit.
