I'd like to plan a quick trip for 1 or 2 nights for DH, the LOs, and I this summer, when they'll be 9-12 months. Any recommendations for what might be easy/fun for us? I have no idea what's fun/doable for babies that age.
We took DD last year (at 17 months) to Amish country in Pennsylvania. We had a blast. DD loved the animals at the B&B where we stayed, it was close and just beautiful up there. I highly recommend visiting Ephrata cloister. It was super interesting and the grounds were beautiful. We're thinking of going back this summer for a weekend, it was that much fun.
I'm happy to hear Hey Jellisy's report, because we're doing the Amish country trip with the kids this June for a weekend. We're going to see Thomas the Train, visit Dutch Wonderland, and hang out in the cottage on 5 acres that we rented.
I'll type up a full report when we get back, but we're really looking forward to it!

Between 9-12 months they'll be mobile, so crawling, cruising, working on walking, so babyproofing a vacation room isn't so bad. My guess is they'll have morning and and afternoon naps so you'd want some place close to your activities so you can make the most of awake time. You could do the beach if you don't mind them getting a mouthful of sand here or there, or a B&B/suite in Charlottesville, Annapolis, St. Michael's. It makes life easier if you have a door between your space and the LOs and a fridge. I'd suggest planning one activity per day (like a winery in Charlottesville, etc) and have the other "awake time" be just R&R. We took a vacation at 10 months for a family reunion and kept it pretty low key.
